Snowball Metrics

Methodology of Research Performance Reports

• The focus is on research produced by Faculty in the College. This serves

to measure the performance progress of the school and of the individual

faculty members over years.

• The College is benchmarked against national or international universities.

This benchmarking is conducted by comparing the research output of

these institutions

Methodology of Research Performance Reports

• Scopus bibliometric database is used to derive the performance metrics.

• Full-time Professoriate (Full Prof, Assoc Prof, Asst Prof) and Full-time Instructor/Lecturers are included.

• Research output includes publications produced by instructors/lecturers, which is negligible compared to the output by professoriate. The research output per faculty member is calculated by dividing the total output by the number of Professoriate in the denominator.

• Grouping can be made according to different genders or to years of study. if desired.

Reported Metrics

• Number of all publications produced in 2015-2020

• Number of articles & reviews produced in 2015-2020

• Citation counts for all publications produced in 2015-2020

• Citation counts for articles & reviews produced in 2015-2020

• Field-weighted citation impact (FWCI) of all publications produced in 2015-2020

Possible with SciVal

comprehensive access to the research performance of research institutions all

over the World

visualize our research performance

benchmark relative to peers

develop strategic partnerships

identify and analyze new, emerging research topics

create uniquely tailored reports.

Needs to be improved

• It could have a more user-friendly, simple and colorful interface due to navigatingin the page can be difficult and time consuming sometimes.

• It can be developed an easy access and quick defining of new researchers andgroups. It is very multi-stage.

• Correction of affiliation information

• Sometimes there are two different profiles of the same author.

• It is very important that the publications flow is healthy

• Correction requests should be answered sooner

• Legal professors have no Scival records

Present & Future Role of the Library

• Our last study started with SciVal through the grouping

of faculty members according to the departments.

• Data corrections at Scopus (Medicine, Nursing, College

of Engineering and College of Science)

• It can be said that the library supports data analysis and

grouping by getting active in the studies to be created

for the future provision.
