Connecting hardware. Connecting your Tranzeo to your network is very easy, as it’s using the POE (Power Over Ethernet) technology. For this you will need two direct Ethernet cable (RJ45) and the power adaptator provided. STEP 1: Connect the Cat 5 cable from the radio into the RJ-45 jack marked “CPE” on the POE adapter. The POE adapter is not weatherproof and should be installed indoors. STEP 2: Connect the power adapter to the POE adapter and plug the other end to an outlet. The POE adapter will be powered on and the power indicator on the top panel will turn on. We recommend connecting the power adapter to an outlet with surge suppression capability with an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) for reduced outages. NOTE: ONLY use the power adapter supplied with the Access Point. Otherwise, the product may be damaged. STEP 3: To configure the EL-500 Series radio, connect the Ethernet cable to the POE adapter and to a computer. NOTE: If connecting to a hub or switch, a crossover cable may be required.

2. Connecting to the radio.

Before accessing the configuration interface, you have to change the network connection settings in your computer to be on the same subnet as the radio.

Changing the IP Address - Windows XP In your computer, open Control Panel > Network Connections > Local AreaConnection.

In Local Area Connection Status > General, click Properties.

In Local Area Connection Properties > General, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.

In Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties > General, select Use the following IP address.

Enter your IP address and Subnet Mask. The default IP address of the radio is 169.254.253.253, which cannot be used here. So type IP address 169.254.253.255 and gateway 169.254.253.253

Click OK and Close.

Use the Static Configuration interface with IP address 169.254.253.253 and netmask 255.255.0.0 to establish network connectivity to an unconfigured EL-500. You can access the web interface by entering one of the EL-500’s IP addresses in the URL field of a web. When you enter this URL, you will be prompted for a login and password. The default login and password used for the web interface are ‘admin ’ and ‘default ’. Type on your browser 169.254.253.253 and you will get access to the logging page of the radio

Since the certificate used in establishing the secure link to the EL-500 has not been signed by a Certification Authority (CA), your browser will most likely display one or more warnings similar to those shown below. These warnings are expected and can be disregarded. HIT YES

3. Setup menu

• Statuts

A configuration overview page is loaded by default after the login process has been completed. This page contains the following information

Firmware version and list of installed patches System uptime System mode of operation (router or bridge) Bridge information (if bridge mode is selected) IP addresses, netmasks, and MAC addresses for each client access interface Status, channel, ESSID, and encryption type for each virtual access point interface VLAN status and ID for all interfaces

To access the status page from any other page in the web interface, click on the “Status” link in the navigation bar that appears on the left side of the web interface.

• Configuration

This page allows you to configure your radio in AP or bridge mode. The AP mode provides access to your wireless clients, in the other hand the bridge mode allows your wireless client to bring their own network to the device (layer 2: emulation).

After this you will need to configure the access to all wireless clients using the DHCP mode.

For all wlan used (one to four), you can set up the IP range allow, in order to select how many wireless clients could access to each wlan.

In this case, (wlan1), only 127 clients are allowed to get access in the same time. You can set up this range from 1 to 255.

• Virtual access point (VAP) configuration

An EL-500 has four virtual access points (VAPs) that can be configured to suit different application needs.

Each wlan can be set up in static mode or DHCP, you might also choose an ESSID name for each connections.

4. Trouble-shooting • Downloading a configuration profile to an EL-500

A configuration profile can be download from an EL-500 using the “Download from node” tab on the “Profile Management“ page. The existing configuration profiles are listed on this page. Click on the one that is to be downloaded to your computer and you will be given the option to specify where the profile should be saved on the host computer.

If you have an issue after making some modification on your radio, you can load a backup profile in order to reset all the configurations to default. Be sure that by doing this all your saves data will be lost.

Select the backup profile

THIS WILL RESET ALL YOUR CONFIGURATION
