Afterwards, you should try this exercise with different chart styles.

As you can see, both a chart and a mini-spreadsheet appear.

Change the row and column headings in the spreadsheet as shown. (we’ll leave the numbers for now, but add in the numbers for English as shown).Notice the chart changes automatically.

Right-click on the tallest bar and choose Format Data Series.

This will allow you to change the color of the entire Math series, currently in purple.

Change the series color to red, and increase the weight of the border

Now change the color of Science to blue.

When you click away from the spreadsheet, it closes and you are left with your chart.

Right-click anywhere on the chart area and choose Chart Type.

Select Bar chart.

Right-click on the chart area and select Chart Options. Add a Chart title, Category (x) axis and Value (y) axis as shown.

There are many other options to try:•Try different chart types (you will find some won’t show properly at all – this is due to the way the data is laid out on the spreadsheet)

•Try changing colors and patterns of the data series.

•Try right-clicking on the data series and clicking on values. This makes the number in the spreadsheet appear on the chart.

•Right-click on the data series and choose chart options, then data labels. Try the view at different angles and font sizes.

•See what happens when you choose “Legend” and change the formatting.

•Experiment, experiment, experiment!
