What is Twitter? Created by Jack Dorsey in 2006 Social networking and micro

blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as “tweets”

Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on author's profile page and delivered to subscribers known as followers

Website has more than 100 million users worldwide

Twitter Is free Based in San Francisco Designed to work on

cell phones and computers

Messages can be sent as a single email or a Short Message Service (SMS) alert

Twitter Is secure (relatively) Senders can restrict

delivery to friends or allow open access

Users can follow lists of authors instead of following individual authors

All users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website or cell phones

Twitter Useful for close-knit groups Quickly communicate

Entries can be private, so only friends you've authorized can see them

Twitter has its own vocabulary so you must learn the lingoExamples include:
