June 15, 2008 marked the one year anniversary of the official opening of the UWI Mona LionsClub Centre for Students with Special Needs. The UWI Development and Endowment Fund

(The Fund) and its partner, the Lion's Club of Mona, wish to again express our appreciation forthe support you gave towards the completion of the project.

The Resource Centre was conceived as part of the University's continued drive to improve accessto tertiary education for all Jamaicans and the Lions' charge to be "Knights of the Blind". Thenew facility is now home to the University's structured programme, which was instituted in 1999to address the needs of persons with disabilities and special circumstances who wished to pursuetertiary level education at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.

The University is grateful to all who have contribut-ed to the construction of the new Resource Centre,including the UWI Development and EndowmentFund, the Lions Club of Mona and the numerousdonors to the project. Your generous contributionhas given students with special needs an opportu-nity to benefit from higher education and from ser-vices that will improve their university experience.
