Chennai Metro Rail Limited has awarded the first tender in February for the construction of elevated viaduct from Koyambedu to Ashok Nagar for a length of 4.5 kms to Soma Enterprises Ltd, Hyderabad at a cost of Rs. 199.20 crores. For the construction of the rest of the elevated portions, tenders would be floated soon. The elevated portions covers Ashok Nagar to St Thomas Mount, which comes under the second corridor linking Chennai Central and St Thomas Mount.
