Velvet Motion Duo The Velvet Motion Duo features Heidi Dannhauser on vocals, saxophone and violin, and Corné Dannhauser on vocals, trumpet and electric solo bass.

Heidi was named by Nataniël as one of South Africa’s top five female singers. She has an impressive background in the performing arts, including 20 years in theatre, television exposure and cabaret. Corné follows hot on Heidi’s heels with his own impressive history in the entertainment industry as performer, songwriter and composer who has worked with local (Nataniël) and international (Stef Bos) stars. They have performed at numerous weddings including that of the adviser to the Minister of Health – Ray Mabope and corporate functions for companies like Sasol, Capri Linen, Stellenbosch Farmers Winery, Daimler-Chrysler (product launch), Sun City, Rand Merchant Bank, Price Waterhouse Coopers, ABSA, Nedbank, LG (product launch), the opening of Lanseria International Airport, the opening of the Heathrow wing at O.R. Tambo International Airport, the opening of Riviera International Hotel, University of Pretoria, University of Johannesburg, IEC, and the list goes on. They have a large repertoire including jazzy music from the 1930’s to ‘50’s, Latin tunes, songs from the musicals, adult contemporary and a couple of African favourites. They lean more to the sophisticated and are the perfect choice if you require a big sound with lots of live instruments and vocals, but are on a tight budget. Their strongest point is their cross-cultural appeal. Beautiful vocals and clever instrumentals, they are an incredibly talented and fresh duo.

Velvet Motion String Trio The versatile Velvet Motion String Trio is unique in its fresh format of violin, acoustic guitar and double bass. They attract and keep the attention of today's media-saturated audiences through their modern approach on light-classicals, music from the 1930's to '50's, Latin tunes, songs from the musicals and some African favourites. A surprise element is their quick change to jazz trio with saxophone or vocals done by multi-instrumentalist, Heidi Bouwer.

They have a long history together and have wowed theatre audiences to critical acclaim and have added atmosphere and a touch of funky class to events ranging from art exhibitions to weddings to corporate functions. They have also made their mark as individuals – Luke van der Merwe (guitar) is a well known face as the guitarist for Noot vir Noot, Corné Dannhauser was the bass player for Nataniël for 14 years and Heidi Dannhauser (violin, saxophone, vocals) started off as an extra-young concert master to the Reserve South African Youth Symphony Orchestra and today boasts 25 years of theatre productions, television appearances and entertainment as actress, singer, multi-instrumentalist and recording artist.

Velvet Motion Jazz Quintet

The fabulous Velvet Motion Jazz Quintet is the perfect answer to a classy event that will benefit from a bigger look live band. They will woo audiences with their renditions of music from the 1930’s to ‘50’s, some Latin tunes and music from the musicals. They have been entertaining at corporate functions, weddings and other upmarket functions since 2001. They are not your typical Quintet due to the fact that their front person plays various instruments and is an incredible vocalist.

This amazing band is headed by performing artist extraordinaire Heidi Dannhauser, one of the finest female vocalists on the South African landscape. She started playing violin and piano before school and added saxophone later in her life. She is accompanied by well known bass player, Corné Dannhauser, on electric and double bass, veteran and virtuoso on the jazz guitar, Luke van der Merwe, probably the most used drummer in the country, Vinnie Henrico and keyboard master and Director of Campus of the Performing Arts (COPA Pretoria), David Jooste. The Velvet Motion Jazz Quintet has impressed people in the know like the world famous jazz pianist and educator, Darius Brubeck. They will surely do the same for you!
