CLERICAL ENDOWMENT FUND MASS CARDS
may be purchased in the church office.
The CEF was established by the Austin
Diocesan Council of Catholic Women to
raise money for the education of dioce-
san seminarians. Masses and prayers are offered for the person enrolled
and also for those enrolling. Suggested donations for these cards are $2.00
and $5.00 for one year enrollment. Also available are perpetual enroll-
ments: for an individual $25.00, for a family $50.00 for an organization
$100.
Las Tarjetas de Misa del Fondo de Dotación de Clérigos están en venta en
la oficina de la iglesia. El CEF fue establecido por el Consejo Diocesano de
Mujeres Católicas de Austin para recaudar fondos para la educación de los

Queridos feligreses,
La temporada santa de Cuaresma comienza el Miércoles
de Ceniza de esta semana. Los cuarenta
días de Cuaresma son una oportunidad
para avanzar en la santidad mediante la
práctica de la oración, el ayuno y la limos-
na.
Cuando recibamos las benditas cenizas
escucharemos las palabras dirigidas per-
sonalmente a nosotros: "Recuerda que
eres polvo, y al polvo has de volver". Estas
palabras están tomadas del Libro de Gé-
nesis (3:19). El Señor Dios a Adán y Eva
les habló primero cuando salieron del
Jardín del Edén. Guardaron estas pala-
bras como un tesoro y las transmitieron
de una generación a otra hasta que fue-
ron registradas en las páginas de la Santa
Biblia. Nosotros también, somos anima-
dos a mantener estas palabras cerca de
nuestros corazones. La frase "Recuerda
que eres polvo, y al polvo has de volver"
es un recordatorio continuo de que el
mundo tal como lo conocemos está pasando y que cuando
fijemos nuestra atención y nuestra esperanza en la vida de
fe en Dios, entonces seremos dirigidos en un camino segu-
ro hacia el mundo que nunca pasará.
Que tú y tus seres queridos vivan una santa Cuaresma
para que las bendiciones de esta temporada descansen
en sus corazones y den los frutos de la santidad.

Dear Parishioners,
The holy season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday of this
week. The forty days of Lent are an
opportunity to advance in holiness by
practicing prayer, fasting and almsgiv-
ing.
As we receive the blessed ashes we
will hear the words addressed person-
ally to us: “Remember you are dust,
and to dust you shall return.” These
words are taken from the Book of Gen-
esis (3:19). The Lord God to Adam and
to Eve first spoke them as they left the
Garden of Eden. They kept these
words as a treasure and transmitted
them from one generation to another
until they were recorded in the pages
of the Holy Bible. We too, are encour-
aged to keep these words close to our
hearts. The phrase “Remember you
are dust, and to dust you shall return”
is a continual reminder that the world
as we know it is passing and that as
we fix our attention and our hope on the life of faith in
God then we shall be directed in a safe path to the world
that will never pass away.
May you and your loved ones live a holy Lent so that the
blessings of this season will rest in your hearts and the
bear the fruits of holiness.
