Equine laparoscopy is becoming moreand more important. The minimallyinvasive procedure offers many advan-tages in abdominal surgery which arenot possible with conventional opensurgery techniques.

In relation to a variety of indications, lap-aroscopy opens up the option to operateon the standing horse. This minimisesthe OP risk, as no general anaestheticneed be administered. Most endoscopicoperations in the abdomen can be per-formed under local anaesthetic.

Other advantages over the traditionalmethod of abdominal surgery on horsesare:
