Editor Says
‘If you exist, make me happy.’ An earnest
quest for the existence of God as well as
true happiness led a 14 years old boy from
a Spanish island of Mallorca to search for
the truth of his life. The answer he
received from prayer led him to experience
God personally and intimately. Such a
great joy he had in his heart that he gave
his life to God and there was no looking
back. This young lad is no other than Fr.
Jaime Bonet, our dearest Founder of
Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity.
Jaime Bonet listened to God in the depth
of his heart. How many of us listen to God
and allow Him to answer all the questions
we hold deep within?
These days, we are in the world of Google
where everyone simply google for answers
to their questions. Yet, there are certain
questions regarding God, self, love,
happiness that no Google or Ask.com can
give us answers that satisfy the thirst
within.
St. Ignatius of Loyola once said that at
the time of his conversion he had no
one to turn to for guidance, so God
taught him the way a schoolmaster
teaches a child. He listened to God his
Teacher and he learnt more than
books could teach him. He stated that
even if all the scriptures were
destroyed, he would hold on to what
they revealed because of what God
had taught him personally. Both St
Ignatius and Fr. Jaime and many other
people down the century to today have
discovered that their conviction to give
their lives, to love, to spread the Word
of God, etc. came from God the
Teacher, not from external sources.
God revealed himself to them and they
were seduced, enlightened.
Do I lack the courage to listen to you,
O Lord, and to trust that you would
break your silence and reveal yourself
to me?

“All the followers of Jesus have these experiences of deep joy. In my first silent retreat, I realised how beautiful life with God is and that the most precious treasure in life is to find God and live with Him... As missionaries, our mission is to share with others the joy of the Gospel. When God is at the centre of our lives, we experience fullness of life.” ~ Gerson, a Verbum Dei Missionary
Priest, preaching the homily

Lenten Walk Travelling Light: Making Choices 10th March 2012
Tuesday Disciple Group organised a morning of walk with a talk, sharing, fun games... for young adults. The theme of the whole walk was on how to make choices as life presents us with many alternatives to choose from. We travel light when we fix our eyes on the only thing necessary in life, i.e. God. He is our way and destination!
