Exterior Locks

Exterior Locks – Issues• The exterior townhouse gate locks we

currently have are interior/exterior locks

• Many, if not all, of the locks are quickly rusting/corroding

• The inside of the locks are rusting also• Our current locks have accessible,

screws which corrode in the elements and present a potential security issue

Exterior Locks - History• Christian von der Goltz (Unit 103) researched

and purchased the exterior locks (at his expense) for the gates, as per his understanding with the board

• The board opted to go with other (interior/exterior) locks

• The interior/exterior locks were installed less than a year ago

• Mr. von der Goltz returned the exterior locks• The following photos were taken on

November 4, 2011

Original Lock Information

Lock Chassis – Cold rolled steel with zinc dichromate finish for corrosion resistance. Requires standard 2-1/8" (53.97mm) bore through door.

Original Lock Information

Latch – Brass with 1/2" (12.7mm) throw. Latch housing is steel, with zinc dichromate finish for corrosion resistance. 7/8" (22.225mm) bore in edge of door is required.

Lockset shall have no exposed screws. Chassis mounting screws may be accessed only when knob and rose are removed.

locks– Exterior Use– Corrosion Resistant– Non-Exposed Screws

• Consult with Mr. von der Goltz regarding the locks he researched and how to purchase them
