Vocabulary Tables (‘Vocab Tables’)

Root letters : A verb in Arabic based on root or radical letters. A vast majority of verbs are trilateral, i.e.,

based on 3 root letters. The basic meaning of the verb (opening) is given by three root letters . The

basic meaning of the verb (helping) is given by .

The simplest form of a verb is the third person masculine singular of the perfect (past tense ). For

example: etc.

Exercis: To remember of the meanings of new words, write down clues/links, if you have any. Some
