Hello to all and Happy Holi-days !!! I just love this time of year, because of all the lights and Holi-day decorations. The air gets cooler, and people seem to be in a better mood. So, do not forget to come and support your Lodge this month. There will be various things and events going on at your Lodge, so check the monthly bulletin. Do not be left out !!!
I want to thank Sal & Lydia Grilli for putting on this years Halloween Adult Party. Although I could not at-tend due to illness, I heard it was a great event, and everyone had a great time. Thanks again Sal & Lydia !!! Also, they put up a Halloween Display in the lobby that was just fantastic. All, who saw it, gave it great reviews.
I want to thank Paul Houser and his team for putting on the "Hoop Shoot" event at the Boys & Girls Club in Pembroke Pines. Paul ran the event for the second year in a row with a good turnout and did a great job. It was held on Thursday afternoon ( 11/04/2010) from 3-7:00 P. M.
Finally, I want to thank all of our Lodge Elks/Veterans for coming to the Elks/ Veterans Appreciation Day on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, from 1-5:00 P. M. They all re-ceived a special Elks/ Veterans pin, a free drink, and a free lunch. Special thanks to Est. Leading Knight Bar-bara Henry and Dave Ryan for their help with the event. Thank-you Veterans!!!
Till next month!!!

Hey...Boys & Girls. We didn't have rib night, but we were going to have a "Steak Night" in November, but be-cause of the fact that we had only 9 people call in to say they would be coming.....it was CANCELLED!!! The rea-son I am posting this is because "I" am equally as guilty and I did NOT call for my steak. I thought that I could just POP in and order one & that all would be well in the world......NOT......You have got to STOP being like me and thinking that the restaurant will be opened for you when you get here cause we are NOT a restaurant and when we have a special function we have to know how much food to order......So....PLEASE.....next time do not be like me. Call in to make sure that your food will be here when YOU get here or we will NEVER have any other functions where I know that the food will be good and it will be inexpensive and GREAT! I will NOT make that mistake again!

Message from the Florida State Elks Association
State President - December Message
My Fellow Elks,
Julia and I have just returned from the Mid-Year Con-vention which was very productive and informative. It is always a privilege and encouraging when gathering with so many dedicated Elks who traditionally attend this
event. In addition to having a considerable number of meetings that dealt with our fund raising efforts, Major Projects, other programs, and state issues, we heard the numerous reports from all our state wide committees. Of particular interest we had more than one session con-cerning our plans to reverse the membership decline as well as the results of a series of meetings in each of the 14 state districts hosted by State Secretary Carl Seibert and State Membership Chairman Don Moon that addressed the same issue. This was topped by two excel-lent speakers who shared with us strategies and ideas relative to at-tracting new lodge members and techniques for interaction among people.
I continue to be encouraged by the progress with our Harry-Anna Trust Fund raising efforts and we appear to be on track for a substan-tial amount of donations for that annual campaign. I wish to thank all Florida Elks who are giving of their time, skills, and contributions in order for us to meet our fund raising goal. Please consider making a pledge toward the 24 hour endurance run that PER Jim Larsen from the Manasota Lodge 2734 will conduct on behalf of Harry-Anna, this coming New Year’s Eve and Day. Pledges may be made on the FSEA Website. Jim’s great generosity will definitely help us attain our goal this year.
Julia and I naturally wish and pray that all Florida Elks and your fami-lies have a most pleasant and safe Christmas Season. We will be trav-eling to the Elks National Home in Bedford, Virginia for their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony as well as some other functions. It will be our privilege and pride to represent all Florida Elks and our State Association. Others will be joining us as we distribute some gifts to the residents and enjoy their hospitality. Please keep us in your prayers also as we continue our visitations to the remaining state dis-tricts in addition to other events.
May God shine his face upon you, and give you great joy and happi-ness this coming Holiday Season.
Fraternally,
James E. Hurst, FSEA State President
Hoop Shoot
The Lodge Annual Hoop Shoot was held on November 5th, We had 38 Kids participate and the winners were awarded trophies and a chance to move on to the District. Sadly, we only had one member to volunteer for the event. More Volunteers are needed! Great Thanks to the following for their help on the Hoop Shoot. ER Terry Pinkerton, Sal and Lydia Grilli and Brandon, their son, Kathy Houser and Barbara Blanchard. Thank you all very much for your help.

MONTHLY BIRTHDAY “BASH”
2pm till ?????
Don’t forget to come join us on Sunday, December 12th to celebrate December Elk birthdays. We kicked this off on Nov 14th for October and November birthdays and had a great time sharing birthday wishes for our birthday Elks. A Free drink will be served to Elks that attend on their birth-day month. The Lodge will have some wings and hot dogs and everyone coming is invited to bring a ‘covered dish” or snacks. Bring your honey and “guests” if you like (remember to sign them in) and enjoy food, games and camaraderie…. And of course, the football games will be televised on five TV’s. We would like to do this every month, so join us and make this a success.

"Elks/Veterans Appreciation Day"
On Saturday, 11/06/2010, the Hollywood West Lodge #2365 celebrated an event called "Elks/Veterans Appreciation Day". The event was held at the Lodge from 1-5 P.M., and 27 Elks/Veterans attended. All attend-ing Elks/Veterans were given a special Elks/Veterans pin (which had the Elks logo on one side with the logo of the appropriate military branch on the other). They also received a free drink and a free lunch.
Est. Leading Knight, Barbara Henry, PER, helped with the event, and I want to thank her for her support. Also, Dave Ryan took pictures, and I want to thank him for that. All the Elks/Veterans had a great time, and I want to thank them for their service to our great country. Be-cause, freedom is not free, and they had to pay the price for us to be free!!!
Thank You, Elks/Veterans,
Terry L. Pinkerton, ER
