Membership is the strength of the VFW. The more members we have the more we can do to assist and support local veterans and our com-munity. We are doing more in the community, doing more events at the Post and trying to come up

with new things to bring you back. The more members who get involved, the more ideas we can share and the more events we can do. If you know a veteran who is qualified, share your pride in

the Post and ask them to join.

Ladies Auxiliary

Sisters,

I hope that all of you and your families had a blessed and safe Easter Holiday. It is fun to get together and enjoy watching our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren having fun.

The Ladies Auxiliary is busy right now with a lot of activities. We received 3 entries for the Patriotic Art Scholarship Contest. The entries will be judged and one will be sent to the Department of Missouri La-dies Auxiliary for further judging. We are also working on decorating tote bags with crocheted flowers and flowers made from buttons. They will be given to female Veterans in the Kansas City VA Medical Center. The auxiliary received several crocheted lap robes to give to Veterans in the Hospital or VA nursing homes. Fellow Auxiliary Sister Bobbie Beisel made them. They are beautiful. Be sure to thank Bobbie for her work for our Veterans.

We are in need of more buttons. If you have buttons that you cannot use that are not of sentimental val-ue, please share them with the Auxiliary. We can take any size or style to either sew to a crocheted flow-er or hot glue together to make a flower.

The April meeting is very important. We will be electing delegates to the district meeting, the Department of Miissouri Convention, and for our auxiliary. We need to have 5 members there to have a quorum. We also are in need of officers for at least 3 or 4 positions. Please attend if at all possible. We will be ex-plaining the duties of each office that needs to be filled.

We are going to be more proactive next year and will be planning tentative events for 2015-2016 after the Department Convention. Suggestions are welcome. We are looking at family friendly events. We also need help planning and putting on the events. No idea is too insignificant to not be considered. Please email them to me.

Thanks to Sharon Bugg, Betty Gianessi and her granddaughter, Linda Eckerle, Bobbie and Tim Jordan, Judith Green, Captain Oliver and the Civil Air Patrol Cadets for their help with the St. Patrick’s Day Din-ner.

Thanks for all that you do for our Veterans and their families.

Cheryl Hainkel, President

Ladies Auxiliary Officers

The Ladies Auxiliary could use buttons to make flowers to decorate tote bags. If you have extra buttons which are not antique or of sentimental value, we would love to have them. Any size ,

shape or color is welcome. We will use them either as the center on crocheted flowers or to hot glue them to make a flower. If your spouse or someone in your family, would like to help with this

project, we are meeting on April 9th at 1:30 pm at the post to work on it. It is fun and a good time to get acquainted.

Breaking News! Breaking News! Breaking News!

The Ladies Auxiliary wants all Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary Members with small children to know that we are offering child care during meetings. If you are interested in bringing your child, please email the Ladies Auxiliary at [email protected]. Please give your name, the first name of your child, age of your child, any special needs and a contact phone number. This is a new initiative and will be provided on an as needed basis.

The Ladies Auxiliary also is in need of toys, games, storybooks and coloring books for small chil-dren. They will help us to be sure your children have something to do while you are attending the Post or Auxiliary meeting. We ask that toys be block, Legos, or other toys that do not produce loud sounds. If you have questions, contact Cheryl Hainkel, President.
