CENTRAL ZONE CROSS COUNTRY AND
INTER-ZONE EVENT
This event was held on 5 June. We are really proud of
all of the children who participated, showing the
Roseneath value of striving to do their best. We had 6
children qualify to go through to the Inter-zones Cross
Country: Brune (Y4), Kate and Billie (Y5), Frank (Y5),
Carl (Y6), Tommy (Y8). A big thank you to Sue Leask
for organising this event for our runners, and for the
parents who were able to support our runners on the
day! The Inter-zones Cross Country is being held at
Karori Park on Tuesday 19 June. A newsletter with all
the details will be sent home tomorrow for those who
qualified.

SHOW IT! DANCES FOR SCHOOLS, 11TH-22ND JUNE
Our Term 3 topic is Show It! And we are focusing on the Performing Art strands of the New
Zealand Curriculum, and dance in particular. Students will have opportunities to learn dance
techniques, practise choreographed dances, and create their own dances. Our Dancesplash and
Wearable Arts performances will be a special part of the topic, and we will be having a
whole school show as well. As an early launch into the topic, we have the Dances for Schools crew
running daily dance lessons for all students over the next two weeks, starting next Monday.
Students will learn choreographed dances and will perform them at the end of the two weeks.
BOARD MEETING:
Our next Board of Trustees meeting is on Monday, 11th June at 7pm. Our meetings are always
open to the public. If you would like an opportunity to speak, please contact the Board Chair at

BEESWAX WRAPS FUNDRAISER - GET YOURS TODAY!
Beeswax wraps are reusable food covers. They are eco-friendly and help to reduce your plastic use at home. Use them to wrap
your fruit, sandwiches, cheese, nuts, dried fruit and biscuits (but not meat products). Cover plates, bowls, jugs, jars and lefto-
vers. They are easy to use, simply mould the wrap with your warm hands until the right shape. Beeswax has antibacterial prop-
erties which help keep the wrap clean and reduce risk of contamination. To clean your wrap, wipe with a warm, damp cloth and
mild detergent when required. Get your beeswax wraps from the office for $10 each. You’ll be helping the environment while
raising money for the school at the same time. Want to help? If you have spare 100% cotton fabric at home (min. size 40cm x
40cm) and would like to donate it to the fundraiser, please leave it in the office. For more information, contact Sally and
Cooper on 02102464611.
FUNDRAISING FOR YEAR 5/6 CAMP
Tiri Connell has organised a fantastic fundraiser for our Year 5/6 camp- Disaster Plasters and reusable shopping bags. Our
Year 5/6 families have each received a notice and a carrybox of plasters and reusable bags to sell to family and friends, and I
think they’ll be popular in workplaces in particular! If you have any questions, or If you are not a Year 5/6 parent but you’re
interested in purchasing some for yourself or selling some on our behalf, please contact us on [email protected]
Thank you for supporting this fundraising initiative.

NEAR MISSES WITH SCHOOL CHILDREN ON TRAIN TRACKS
There have been some near misses recently involving children crossing train
tracks before and after school. They all have one thing in common: children
aren’t expecting a ―second train”. In all of these recent near misses, bells and
lights have still been operating, but because the first train has passed, stu-
dents make the mistake of thinking it’s safe to cross. This can be extremely
dangerous as the track crossings in areas with double tracks always have the
potential for a second train to pass. This link shows footage of one near miss:

type=3&theater. As well as looking and listening before crossing, please make
it clear to children that if bells and lights are going, it’s because a second train
could be coming and it’s not safe to cross. For more information about safe behaviour around tracks and trains, see Tracksafe.co.nz.
