For private circulation only 150 th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi @ Bhavan's Volume : 3 Issue : 5 October-November 2019 There is perfect blend of the vision and the values of Gandhi and Dr. Munshi in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, which is the binding force in the future journey of the organization, he reiterated. Sri. E. Ramankutty, Director, BVB, Kochi Kendra delivered the welcome address. T he beginning of the year long celebration to commemorate the 150 th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was inaugurated by Sri. Gopalakrishna Gandhi IAS, former West Bengal Governor and grand son of Mahatma Gandhi, on 19 th September 2019 in an august function at Bhavan's Kochi Kendra. In his inaugural address, applauding the knowledge on Gandhian thoughts showcased by the students and experts in the opening events Sri. Gopalakrishna Gandhi IAS reminisced about Gandhiji and his life as a member of the clan. Narrating about the life instances , he stated that, having recorded these exchanges in his writings, the Mahatma was 'the chief prosecutor of himself in the court of life. Gandhi is not a picture of perfection to be worshipped like a deity. He is to be studied critically and with love'. Recollecting the remarkable role of Kasturba in Gandhiji's commitment to the society he commented 'No Kasturba means no barrister, no South Africa (the civil rights and anti-aparthied movement in South Africa), no Mahatma and no decolonization of the colonized world'. In his presidential address Sri. C. A. Venugoapl C. Govind, Chairman, BVB, Kochi Kendra,elaborated on the influence of Mahatma Gandhi on Dr. K. M. Munshi, the founder of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Earlier, the Faculty, Dept. of Music, BVB, Kochi Kendra offered a musical Tribute to Mahatma, followed by a visual presentation by the students. To mark a year long celebrations, there was a project launch titled ' Nurturing Gandhian Ideals in Children through Children'. Sri. G. Gopinath, Vice- Chairman, BVB, Kochi Kendra, introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering. Sri. K. Sankara Narayanan, Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, BVB, Kochi Kendra, proposed the vote of thanks. Campus Greenery A dding to the beauty of scenic lush green campus, 25 saplings were planted in Association with the Harithapoornam initiative by Align Minds Technologies. The mission aims to plant 1000 trees in and around Tripunithura by May 2020. Corporate Interaction M r. Sabarinath Menon-Manager, RentOKil PCI interacted with students on the corporate expectations from MBA graduates O ur placement season for 2018-20 Batch started with a bang as Bandhan Bank selected 10 of our students though campus placement. True to the mission of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan inproviding holistic education, a special workshop

on Kathakali was organized in the campus inassociation with Tripunithura Kathakali Kendra andCochin Shipyard. Inaugurating the workshop , Sri. C.A. Venugopala C. Govind, Chairman-BVB,KochiKendra stated "Art is life and life is art"-highlightinghow art acts to illuminate the wondrous varieties ofhuman beings and serve as a vital nourishment tothe lives. Ms. Haripriya Namboodiri, the Kathakaliexponent was honored in the function, who led theworkshop familiarizing the viewers on the languageand syntax of the art form.

Integration of Art in ManagementEducation-Kathakali Workshop and

Demonstration True to the ideology of Bhavan's to disseminateknowledge and values on a wider diaspora which

guide the social outreach initiative of the institution,the staff and students conducted a book donation drivein the campus. On 7th November 2019, the FoundationDay of Bhavan's, the Grameena Vayansala atChitranjali Junction was restored after cleaning byour housekeeping staff. Our Dean, Prof. (Dr.)Rajagopala Nair donated the collected books to thelibrary in the presence of the library staff ,membersand the Municipal Counciller. The Secretary of theLibrary thanked Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for thegesture.

Workshop on Advanced Excel

Advanced Excel skills is essential for any businessgraduate for statistical visualization for decision

making. With the purpose of equipping our students,a practical workshop was organized for 2nd yearstudents. Mr. Arun, the Domain expert fromBreakthrough Learning - Malabar InnovationEntrepreneurship Zone delivered the session in anenjoyable and engaging way.

STUDENT TRAINING PROGRAMMES

Pre-Placement Training

Second Year MBA students were provided with anintensive 3 day training programme prior to the

start of their placement season. Experts on variousareas delivered dedicated sessions on various aspectsof corporate expectations to ensure the students areready for facing the placement process andemployable.

ACHIEVEMENTSWinner in Photography Contest

Manuelson George,1st MBAhas won first prize in

Photography contest conductedas part of the inter collegiatefest by Chinmaya University.A team of 2nd year students participated in the NIPM

event, "A chase for best HR Practices -KNOWLEDGEHUNT", held on 21 November 2019. The participantstudents, Swathi Ramesh, Christina Sneha, AiswaryaKiran and Reshma Krishnan had an experientiallearning on HR practices blended with lessons on timeand cost management through Gaming, Presentationsand Outbound activities.

NIPM Knowledge Hunt

Mr. Girish S. Pathy, Asst. Professor participated inthe two day National Workshop on Advances in

Data Sciences by the Dept. Of Future Studies,University of Kerala. He also attended MDP on "QualityEnhancement of Management Institution based on NBAAccreditation" conducted by Berchmans Institute of

FACULTY ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMESManagement & Saintgits Institute of Management.

Ms. Aswathy Mohan, Asst. Professor participatedin the FDP titled "Learning to do Academic Researchfor Publishing in Academic Journals and for DoctoralDissertation" at IIM-Kozhikode.
