S chool Canteen Bellbrook Catering would like to advise that commencing in Term 4, the canteen will be

open each Monday. Lunch Orders will be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

P remiers’ Reading Challenge With the challenge concluding this week, our school is well on track to have 100% completion again;

something Brentwood Park is now well known for in Department of Education. Currently, 95% of the school population have entered the appropriate amount of books to complete the challenge, with the remaining well on the way to achieving the 100 books status. Overall, our school has read over 30,000 books all together! Our Grade 5 students are trialling the new version of the Premiers’ Reading Challenge for entering their books, which will hopefully be released to the rest of Victoria at the start of next year.

C hinese Language and Culture Our delegation of 24 students and three staff will be departing, along with the other Victorian schools, in less than two weeks on our trip to China! The entire visitation will be an exploration journey including cultural and educational experiences for all taking part! Highlights for our participating staff and students will, no doubt, be walking on the Great Wall of China, our visit to the city of Xi’an to view the Terracotta Warriors museum and our visit to our sister school - Yangzhong Experimental Primary School of Yangzhong City where the students will attend class with the child of their hosting family! How exciting! In preparation for their trip, extra curricula classes have been held each Monday from 3:30 pm to 4:20 pm. Our delegation of students will certainly have the opportunity to expand upon their introductions of self and friends as well order food and barter in the market places!! The elementary conversational phrases will certainly be put to effective use!!

M ini fete! As you should already know, our school is holding a Mini Fete on

the 22nd October. The school holidays are coming up, and that is the best time for some spring cleaning! We would be utterly grateful if you could donate any items you no longer need, such as stationery, toys, board games, books, CDs, kitchen and household items for our Trash and Treasure stall. The Mini Fete is organised to raise money for our school equipment and to teach economics and handling a budget. In a few weeks time some Year 5 students will come around to the classrooms to collect donated items. We hope you will be able to help our stall- we would appreciate it very much. After all, your trash is our treasure! Thanks! Iliana, Charlize , Jayde and Charlie from 5LF

S ports Shorts DISTRICT BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Last week, the annual district basketball tournament was held. With a team in each category, our school had some outstanding performances with great results. The boys ‘A’ team came equal 3rd which is a great result. All day the team was well served by Nik, Justyce, Zayd and Matthew. The girls ‘A’ team had a very challenging day, fighting competitively and never giving up in each game. Paige, Isobel, Mehar and Latoya set up plays and momentum, creating opportunities for the other girls. Congratulations, on finishing 4th. In the ‘B’ division, the boys’ team were tremendous, finishing with 1 win and 3 losses. Harsh, RJ, Michael and Lincoln were prominent in each game. Finally, the girls’ team were always within a wining position, however, each game was a narrow loss. Amber, Emilie, Isabelle and Vernicia displayed great leadership and inspirational play. Congratulations to all team members for their contribution throughout the day.

Our parent helpers were super and their assistance is greatly appreciated. Michael, Anthea, Glenn, Leanne and the parent supporters certainly provided great advice and support for our teams. Jim Narayan and Mel Dennis Health & Physical Education

P LEASE DIRECT MONEY FOR EXCURSIONS, ETC TO YOUR CLASSROOM TEACHER - NOT TO THE OFFICE.

Please hand money and permission slip in sealed envelopes to classroom teacher first thing in the morning. By following this process teachers are aware that your child will be attending the excursion and mark them off

their lists. Money is collected by office staff and processed each morning and a receipt given back to teachers along with permission slips. All money is tallied and banked daily – no money is left on the premises. If you wish to pay by credit card, a proforma is available from the office. This can be filled out with details and placed in a sealed envelope and handed to your classroom teacher

Please deliver cash in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and grade on the front by 9.30 a.m. If you have a number of children attending an excursion you can place all money and permission slips in the one envelope with children’s names and grades on the front and deliver to one of the children’s teachers. The office staff will be able to allocate money to the children’s particular items and distribute permission slips and receipts back to teachers. Enve-lopes are available at the office. If you have a large amount to be paid or need to process an EFTPOS transaction through a savings account you can make arrangements to pay at the office. We also have a new Qkr payment system on our Skoolbag app. If you download our Skoolbag app and Qkr payment app you can now pay for your child’s excursion on line.

All change will be delivered to the children in the afternoon. Re-imbursements will only be made under certain circumstances – they will be made by cheque (no cash transactions are made).

Notices are sent out with a final collection time – please adhere to this time. All money and permission slips are required to be sent back by this date – otherwise your child will not be able to attend. This enables us to confirm bookings and numbers with bus companies and organisations we are visiting. Also we need to send details to the De-partment of Education Emergency Management for all excursions, camps, etc. We also need to accommodate students who will not be attending.

We would appreciate it if parents could please follow these processes.
