Volume 26 Issue 41 Friday 18th December, 2020 term dates 2020 TERM 1 28 JAN-27 MAR TERM 2 14 APR-26 JUNE TERM 3 13 JUL-18 SEP TERM 4 5 OCT-18 DEC 18th dec last day of term - school dismissed @ 2:30 pm. 28th jan school resumes 2021 term one 1st feb first day of canteen 2021 jim bell, principal jenny reid, assistant principal jo-anne doran, assistant principal DATES TO REMEMBER Y ear 6 Graduation 2020 On Thursday afternoon, 17 December, the Year 6 Graduation Ceremony was conducted, here at school, in our performing arts centre. A dinner and ceremony could not be undertaken as it was in previous years due to the restrictions still prevailing from the Covid-19 pandemic, however, a memorable occasion was still conducted to ensure our Year 6 cohort did not miss out completely on the memorable highlights of their final year at primary school. Dressed in attire suited to the occasion, the students took advantage of the opportunity to have individual, group and friendship photographs taken by staff photographers, Mel Dennis, Anthea Barry and Jo-anne Doran. The official part ceremony commenced with the viewing of a video which was compiled to provide all present with a snapshot of Year 6 in 2020. It illustrated admira- bly, that despite the challenges of the year which includ- ed two terms of remote and flexible learning, a produc- tive and enjoyable year was still experienced by both students and teachers. The ceremony was professionally videoed and a link will be provided to enable parents and friends to down- load and view. It will be on the school website soon! In the meantime, a collage of photographs in this weeks newsletter has captured the occasion for all to enjoy! Despite the challenges of 2020, thank you to all those parents who supported the schools programs and childrens learning throughout two terms of remote and flexible learning and upon their return to onsite schooling! Thank you to all the staff, both teaching and non teaching for the exemplary virtual and onsite learning and teaching programs which were developed, im- plemented and evaluated throughout an unprecedent- ed year of education!! Thank you for all the extrayou have also done throughout the year. Finally, thank you to the students themselves. During the challenges of the year, the have demonstrated persistence and resilience in the learning whilst maintaining the school values of respect, responsibility, teamwork and excellence!! Farewell to the families who are moving on; our very best wishes go with you, and to those who remain, we look forward to our continued asso- ciation in 2021! To all, I wish a safe and relaxing holiday!

  • C hange to School Dismissal Times The Term 4 Operations Guide of the Depart-ment of Education and Training has been up-

    dated from 25 November. Schools are now encouraged to move away from staggered starts and staggered ends of the school day, however, physical distancing measures still require adults on the school site to maintain 1.5 metres between each other. Although face masks are not required to be worn out-side, they must be worn when inside. All students have been dismissed collectively at 3:20 p.m. Students of Year Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 con-tinue to be dismissed from their signed collection points. To maintain social distancing, only parents of Year 2 students or younger should be onsite. All other parents of Years 3-6 are expected to meet their children offsite. School will be dismissed at 2:30 p.m. on Fri-day 18 December.

    B ellbrook Catering The last canteen day for 2020 is Friday 11th De-

    cember and the first canteen day for 2021 is Monday 1st February. Bellbrook Cater-ing would like to wish all staff, students and families a safe and happy Christmas break and a happy new year! Please note that lunch orders can ONLY be ordered using QKR.

    S tudent Placements 2021 The organisation of classes for next year has been finalised and

    children have had the opportunity of meeting their new teacher for 2021. This was done at an orientation ses-sion on Thursday! Our Class Place-ment Policy is in this newsletter for reference. A staffing list is in this week’s newsletter!

    C onstruction Update With the brickwork now finished, the builders have been working inside fitting out the ceiling

    and new kitchen in the staffroom. Work will continue next week and in through January with our hope of completion being achieved before we return to the new school year!

    G arden Preparation The school year may be winding down but garden preparation for the planting of our future harvest

    is in full operation thanks to the Year 4 staff and students under the direction of Vicki Kromlidis, Year 4 teacher!

    2 020 YEAR 6 PRODUCTION As informed previously, our Year 6 production titled Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies was profession-

    ally videoed for family and friends to view and enjoy! It is now available on our school website for download! The details are below.
