Principal’s Message
Education Week 2020 – ‘Learning Together’
This week Lindfield PS celebrates Education Week 2020. The theme
of ‘Learning Together’ highlights the extraordinary year of schooling
our students have encountered. To their credit, our students have
transitioned well from face to face teaching to ‘learning from home’ to
face to face learning for one day per week and then finally returning
to full time face to face learning. They have been resilient, flexible and
adapted well to the changing restrictions, technologies, activities and
methods of learning. They were so pleased to return to school with
their friends and teachers.
I commend and thank the staff for their hard work, flexibility,
willingness to learn new skills and coming on –site in times of
uncertainty. Their ability to take on new technology and a new way of
teaching makes me proud of them. I am also proud of the Executive
team for demonstrating strong leadership during this time. It has been a lot of work to set, mark and provide
feedback to every student in the class whilst also being required to supervise students who were at school as
children of essential workers.
Thank you parents and carers for sharing our journey of ‘learning together’. Many of you became ‘teachers’
for the first time and also had to learn new skills in technology and multi-tasking. The way you shared
devices, organised Zoom sessions and juggled your own work demands with your child’s schooling made
you all champions!
As a memento of these challenging times, students have been given the opportunity to reflect on their
learning at home and learning at school. We take pride in sharing these beautiful posters with you. They are
being sent home today so please take the time to discuss these with your children and find a place to display
them. This is one way for us to share Education Week with you as we cannot meet together as we would
normally do.
We also wish to share a video that encapsulates a snapshot of our learning in class and our participation
in some of our
other extra-
curricular
activities.

SASS Recognition Week
This week we acknowledge and thank our wonderful School Administrative and Support Staff as part of
SASS Recognition Week. We thank them for all that they do to keep our school running smoothly. Their
dedication, friendly welcome and support of our students and staff is impressive. They play a vital role in
Customer Service especially this year in light of the pandemic. In particular, we thank Ms Lee Stewart,
Mrs Tania Fogden, Mrs Bhavna Chopra, Mrs Kath Robinson, Mrs Debbie Prosper, Mrs Kathy Best and
Mrs Carla Kapinga. Our temporary General Assistant Mr Bill Stephinson has done a remarkable job
maintaining our school grounds to such a high standard.
If you are speaking with our team this week, you may wish to give them an extra thank you for the work
they do!
In addition to our office staff, we have Student Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) who assist students in
the playground and the classroom. They do an amazing job and always have a smile on their faces.
Thank you Mrs Jackie Crino, Miss Ellie Anderson-Gingold, Mrs Brittany Rodgers and Mr Jeremy Segal.
Miss Kate Waters on Leave
Our much appreciated Learning Support Teacher Miss Waters will
be taking Adoption Leave. This leave commences next week and
will continue for the rest of the year. She will return in 2021. We wish
her all the best as she spends time with her daughter. Miss Waters
has already put in place specific teaching and learning programs for
her literacy support groups and I am currently sourcing a teacher to
implement these.
Years 3-6 Mini-Assembly
This fortnight’s mini-assembly was led by student leaders Annabelle and James. Blue Assembly awards
were presented to students displaying hard work and effort in class. Our Silver and Gold Awards
acknowledged students who have been consistently following the school’s ROAR expectations.
Congratulations to all award winners this fortnight! We also celebrated Education Week this week by
showing some of the work students have put together as part of the ‘surprise package’ for parents and
carers.
Next week we will be presenting Lindfield Blues and Lindfield Pride Pins. Please ensure that all
applications for Blues and Prides have been handed to the Office by Friday of this week if you wish to be
eligible for next week’s awards. Sadly due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are still unable to have parents
attend our assemblies so we will email photos to you.
Physical Distancing, Parking and Supervision
It is vitally important that as adults we practise physical distancing by staying 1.5 metres away when we
drop off and pick up students from school and all extra-curricular activities. Please follow the rules to
keep everyone safe as we do not want to risk infection. Adults should not be in school grounds watching
swimming or waiting for tutorials to end – please just drop off and pick up your children. Students should
not be waiting in the school grounds unsupervised – if their tutorial or lesson hasn’t begun, they must
wait outside with parents and carers. The school car parks are not available to parents until after
4:30pm. Thank you for complying with these restrictions as together we can stay safe.

Deputy Principals’ Message
The 'Tell Them From Me' Parent Feedback Survey
This term our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning Parent Survey. Thank you to the 60
parents/carers who have taken part in the survey thus far. Your valuable feedback will help guide
decisions around the future directions of our school. The survey will typically take 20 minutes or less to
complete and is completely confidential. The survey can be done in several languages. Although
participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated. To access
the LPS Parent Survey please go to: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/lindfield2020
Thank you for your time in completing this survey as part of our consultation phase for our future school
plans. The last four questions are unique to our school and they include what you would like to
see improved in our school. We look forward to hearing your feedback.
Kindergarten Enrolments 2021
Kindergarten enrolments for 2021 are now overdue. Please contact the Office for
an Enrolment Form or fill out a form using the link below. Due to COVID restrictions,
Kindergarten Orientation is currently on hold in all schools.
Later in the term, more information regarding Information Sessions and Orientation
Days will be sent out. Application to Enrol in a NSW Government School
Opportunity Class Placement - New Date
In order to comply with the latest advice from NSW Health to
minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmissions, the annual
Opportunity Class Placement Test will now take place at
school, rather than in examination centres.
To allow this change to be made the new test date will be
Wednesday 18 November 2020.
Only students whose parents have received a confirmation email from the High Performing Students
Team are eligible to sit the test on the new date. The application portal will not be re-opened for new
applications.
Further details on how this process will be managed will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
We encourage you to continue to monitor the department’s website for the latest information relating to
high performing students.
PSSA Modifications and Refunds for Term 3
Due to changes in COVID-19 guidelines set out by NSW Health,
Ku-ring-gai Zone PSSA made the decision last week to cancel
the Winter Season for the remainder of Term 3. This is because
many of our venues had more than 100 in attendance and this
does not satisfy the DoE criteria.
At Lindfield our PSSA teams (Netball, Football and AFL) will continue to play sport on a Friday albeit in a
modified format. Netball teams will remain on the school grounds and make use of the two netball courts
and take part in games and skill development each week. Our AFL and Football teams will alternate
between Edenborough Oval and Palm Playground each week. Students will have an opportunity for
some game time while at Edenborough and will take part in skill development games and drills while on
Palm Playground.
PSSA fees are used to pay for transport, equipment purchase and participation fees. Due to these
unforeseen changes $40.00 refunds will be made available to all PSSA students; you may take this as a
refund or if you prefer, you can have it allocated against your school fees. If you would like it to go
against school fees, please email [email protected] and Ms Stewart will arrange this. If you
haven’t advised us to reallocate the $40.00 by Friday 4 September, a refund will be issued.
Recreational and School Sport programs will be unaffected by these changes and will continue
throughout the term in their current format.
Kindy Farm
Last week we welcomed the Kindy Farm to Lindfield. Kindergarten students interacted with all the
animals. They took part in a sheep shearing demonstration and were able to hold some of the wool.
Students saw ducklings, goats, sheep, piglets and even a small calf. All reports from the teachers and
students were that everyone had a wonderful day and made memories they will treasure forever. Please
see the following page for some photos from the day.

Medical Alert Updates 2020
Please ensure all children with anaphylaxis and other medical
conditions hand in their updated Action Plans. Kindly ask your
doctors to sign, stamp and date them. The school needs to
receive a coloured copy of the Action Plan for our health
records. All students with a known medical condition must

Work on Display
Anaphylaxis at Lindfield Public School At Lindfield Public School in 2020, we have a small number of children who could have a potentially life
threatening allergic reaction. They are found across our school from Kindergarten to Year 6.
How can parents help these children?
• Choose alternative sandwich spreads to peanut butter and Nutella. Inform your child that
these foods can trigger an anaphylactic reaction.
• Reinforce the school’s NO FOOD SHARING message.
Please note, no students are allowed to bring
glass bottles to school for safety reason

Winter uniform is still mandatory.
The SHOP remains closed - Online is OPEN
While our physical shop remains closed, you can still order your uniforms online.
https://lpspandc.org.au/uniform-shop/ We are processing all orders on either Wednesdays or Thursdays and
delivering them to the child’s classroom teacher.
Please order what you think you need, take your items home and try them on. If you got the size wrong or
ordered incorrectly, drop your items back to the Front Office. We will collect them from there and exchange
these items before taking them back to the classroom.
2nd hand clothing
While our physical shop remains closed you can order 2nd hand clothing: Please send an email to
[email protected] indicating the items and size you require and we will go for a hunt through our 2nd
hand boxes and take items to the Front Office for you.
You can then have a look at them and if you like them, please leave the money with the Front Office staff for
us.
Label your belongings
I know I harp on, but please label your belongings and encourage your precious one to look after them. We
can only return things if we find a legible name on it! Please be aware that your child’s first name alone is
NOT enough – we do need to know your last name too.
Girls winter pants
Remember, girls can choose between our traditional tunic and the girls fitted grey pants for their
winter uniform. They wear both with the unisex blue shirt and grey socks or tights.

ENROLMENTS
Some of our squads are now fully booked and there is little room for changes to be made to sessions if you
need to change days. Please keep this in mind when organising activities. If you need to change sessions or
days, you will be placed on a waiting list.
If you are unable to commit to your booked sessions, please email the Swimming Administrator to let her
know, so that someone else can take your place.
PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT PAY FOR SQUADS OR LEARN TO SWIM UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN
INSTRUCTED BY THE SWIMMING ADMINISTRATOR AND YOU HAVE A CONFIRMED BOOKING. DO
NOT ASSUME THAT YOU WILL HAVE A PLACE BY MAKING A PAYMENT.
ABSENCES FROM SWIMMING SESSIONS
Please email the Swimming Administrator if your child will be absent from swimming due to illness. If your
child is experiencing COVID flu-like symptoms, you will need to get your child tested. They are not to return
to swimming until a negative test is received and they are fully recovered.
HOT SHOWERS IN THE CHANGE ROOM
As most of you are aware, the hot water system is being replaced and I will advise when hot showers will be
available. In the meantime, please ensure your child has warm clothes to change into.
SQUADS AND LEARN TO SWIM PAYMENTS
If you have enrolled and you have received confirmation of your booking, payment is now due IN FULL by
clicking the correct squad link on our website: https://lpspandc.org.au/sport-and-swimming/. FEES MUST
BE PAID BY DUE DATE OF 31 AUGUST 2020 IN ORDER TO REDEEM ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHER. All
payment instructions and Active Kids Voucher redemptions instructions are on the website.
All new children must attend a grading session with our coach and be assigned a squad or lesson level. If you
would like to be assessed, email the Swimming Administrator to make a booking. Your child should wear
swimmers, cap and goggles. They will enter the pool regardless of ability. Swimming is a COVID safe activity
and safety protocols are in place.

Zoom login details (meeting ID and Passwords) will be emailed to each band member – please check email
for your access. Please ensure the Zoom display name is your child’s name (not parent name) if the
conductor needs to authorise access. Contact your conductor/band rep if you are experiencing any
difficulties.
Rehearsals on Zoom may be different to the live experience, but these sessions are still wonderfully
beneficial and offer a variety of features and learning opportunities often missed in traditional band
rehearsals.
Tutorials
Tutorials will remain unchanged at this time and can continue face-to-face onsite at LPS until further notice.
Tutors and students need to maintain 3m distance at all times and follow the COVID-19 protocols.
Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond Awards – still on track!
Our move to Zoom for the remainder of Term 3 won’t stop awards solos!
Band members in CB, IB and JB will be asked to perform solo during Zoom rehearsals for their annual
awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold/Diamond for JB, IB and CB members respectively). Keep practising your
solos and be ready!
Depending on the award level, students will need to complete a series of scales and a solo piece of music or
rudiments and drumkit beats for Percussion section.
