MATCH PREVIEW: Ottawa Fury FC open the second half of their inaugural USL season with a four-game home stand starting Saturday afternoon with a crucial match against the Rochester Rhinos. The drive to the playoffs begins in earnest on Saturday with a vital three points up for grabs for both clubs who will meet for the second time in four weeks with the Rhinos claiming victory in the first meeting, 1-0. Away from the pitch, fans are asked to help tackle hunger in Ottawa and surrounding areas by bringing a non-perishable food item or cash donation as part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger Program. Since Fury FC and the Ottawa REDBLACKS began participating in the program in 2014, the teams and their fans have raised over 175,000 pounds of food for the Ottawa Food Bank. Paul Dalglish’s side will be looking for a bounce-back performance against Rochester after losing their last two USL games, most recently dropping a 1-0 decision against Toronto FC II last Saturday, despite dominating the game and producing 13 shots. While Fury FC might have fallen 1-0 to the Montreal Impact in a midweek friendly, the match could prove to be a valuable experience to elevate Ottawa’s performance for the big match on Saturday against the Rhinos. The key to an Ottawa victory could come down to precision in the final third. In their last six games, Fury FC generated 64 shots towards the opposition’s goal – 24 on goal – but scored only five goals. Fans can expect another tight game against Rochester, not only because the Rhinos have the second best defence in the Eastern Conference – having allowed 15 goals in 15 games – but also because 15 of Fury FC’s 16 USL matches this season have been decided by one goal or less. The Rhinos are coming into Saturday’s game after defeating Harrisburg 1-0 last Saturday and they are currently riding a two-game unbeaten streak. Rochester snapped a two-game losing streak two weeks ago when they split the points in a scoreless draw against Saint Louis FC. Fury FC’s offence will have to be at its best if Ottawa wants to score goals Saturday because they will face a red-hot goalkeeper in Tomas Gomez. The Rhinos’ shot-stopper is currently tied for first in the USL with seven clean sheets. WHAT THEY’RE SAYING:

Fury FC GM and Head Coach, Paul Dalglish: “We have a 4-game home stand and it’s time for us to start climbing the standings. We’ve shown in spurts this season how good we can be at both ends of the field but now we have to start putting together complete performances. It’s simple. We have to be better and that’s what we plan to do against Rochester. We want to create the same amount of chances, control the game in the same way, but we have to take our chances. ” “Almost every game in this league is tight. I have huge respect for Bob Lilley and we know it’s going to be a tough game, but going forward we want to start focusing on ourselves. If we do things right, with the talent we’ve got in this locker room, then we should be winning games on a regular basis.” Fury FC Captain, Lance Rozeboom: “It’s a big game for us. Any game at home at home is big and we want to come out on the front foot every time we’re in front of our fans and get three points. Rochester is a very good team, a tough team to play, they beat us at their place a few weeks ago, so we know it’s going to be a hard-fought game but we want to make sure we start this 4-game home stretch on a good note.”

2017 ROCHESTER RHINOS ROSTER_______________________________________________ ABOUT THE RHINOS: One of the most storied franchises in the USL, the Rhinos are among the league’s founding members, alongside the Charleston Battery, the Charlotte Eagles, the Harrisburg City Islanders, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and the Richmond Kickers. The Rhinos celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2015 and they found the best possible way to mark that significant milestone by capturing the club’s fourth league championship – their first in the league’s modern era. The 2015 season was truly exceptional for the Rhinos and Onua Obasi was part it when they won the league championship. The Rhinos claimed both the regular-season title and the USL Championship that year.
