CORVETTES of BUFFALO pg 1
Hello everyone,
It seems not too long ago I was saying
something about turning the corner on good weather
to start driving our cars and now we are into the 2nc
half of our short season of driving our Vettes! so
make sure you get out there and enjoy.
On July 19th
we meet with the Sunburst Corvette
Club from Crystal Lake Illinois on Old falls street in
Niagara Falls. The Sunburst club members were as I
expected fun and outgoing. They were excited to
meet with us but unfortunately it rained all day, never
the less everyone had a good time. There was plenty
of laughing, telling corvette stories and guess what
“eating”. The Sunburst club members like most
corvette people love to eat and drive their cars. They
were very impressed with the turnout that our club
had considering it rained all day. We had 17 vettes
and there club had 20 vettes. Once again thanks to all
our members who came out to meet and greet. By the
way I bet a double order of chicken wings against a
deep dish Chicago pizza that the Bills will beat the
Bears in this years opening day game in Chicago on
September 7th
.
I want to remind everyone that there is no August
meeting at the church in its place is our C.O.B. picnic
on August 10th
at Gratwick Hose Co..
Finally I want to remind everyone that the C.O.B.
nominations are coming up in September so please
give some thought to possibly running for Office and
or the Board. All you need to be is a member in good
standing.

Meet and Greet By Mike Buccilli
On July 19th
we met up with the Crystal Lake Corvette Club on Old Falls St. Niagara Falls U.S.
What a pleasure it was to host them. As they came over the Rainbow Bridge one by one in there dripping
wet corvettes (It rained all day) smiling and waving as they past each check point that C.O.B. set in place.
You got the feeling that these were going to be the kind of people that were fun to be with, my observation
was right. After I was done being point man for the check points
I walked down Old Falls St. and saw both clubs already greeting each other. I finally meet up with Mike
who is the Secretary of the Sunburst club, shook hands and welcomed him and his group. I apologized for
the rain but it was something out of my control. Mike introduced me to Gary the President of their club.
The C.O.B. women Lee B, Lynn, Sue, Barbara, Carol B and Carole R, Marianne, Nancy, Kathy,
Patti, Norma, Maureen (and I apologize if I missed anyone else.) began greeting the women of the Starburst
Club and the men did their thing (looking at the vettes).
After we settled in the Starburst Club did a little judging of our vettes and voted on two of our
members cars and the winners were the Josephs and the Buckley’s who were presented with a Starburst
Car show tee shirt.
We all ended up at the end of Old Falls St. were there was a tent set up for us and a stage with live
music , food vendors, ping-pong table, and fosse ball table, some of the Starburst club members were
playing ping-pong in the rain that was a sight to see.
At the end of the day Mike (Starburst club) was still impressed at the turn out of our members on a dank
and rainy day.(17 cars)
My hat goes off to everyone from our club who made it to the meet and greet.
Once again another event where I was PROUD to be part of Corvettes of Buffalo
Thank again to all

Bruce Epolito I always thought Corvettes were pretty cool cars, but I never thought I would own one, let alone a vintage 1963 Stingray convertible. Late one evening back in the fall of 2012, while surfing Craigslist, there it was on Buffalo's west side posted just 10 minutes earlier. I rushed to send an e-mail to the owner with a request for him to contact me by phone, and within 15 minutes my phone rang. We set up a time to see the car first thing the very next day. That evening, the car was sitting in my garage. My wife Angela and daughters Andrea & Rachel thought I was losing my mind for unexpectedly coming home with this old Corvette. So with that said, I suddenly had a hobby. I began with the exterior detail which included cleaning, waxing, and polishing to bring the paint back to life. Next came that year's winter project; I did a complete makeover on the interior, then had a new convertible top installed in the spring. Since then, I've been concentrating my efforts into making improvements detailing under the hood. I've also been participating in some of the local car shows and cruises, which is where I found out about the Corvette Club Of Buffalo after speaking with a member. I am hopeful in becoming a member myself, and am looking forward to participating in events and activities with fellow Corvette owners.

Dear C.O.B Members,
From time to time, over the years, I have given thought to owning a sports car. However, with 3 young boys, it just didn’t seem practical. My car/van was crowded with not only my three sons but with friends and baseball and soccer equipment. I was either taxiing them to games, coaching them or just being a spectator/dad.
Then last year my youngest son turned 18 and my oldest graduated from college and my mid-life crisis was in full bloom. So rather than get a young mistress, I thought a sports car would be more practical. (just kidding)
It was May 2013 and I was considering buying a used Corvette convertible. I opened the Sunday paper and saw an ad at Basil Chevrolet for a new Corvette. Since I live near the Basil dealership, I decided to check out their “Corvette Special”. The salesman pointed to the car in the lot and I was stunned by its beauty. Love at first sight and no expensive divorce needed! I purchased the car, came home and told my wife and the rest is history.
Though I never owned a manual transmission car, I loved every second of the test drive. Driving this car was not just driving, but truly living. My wife says that I have said “Man I love driving this car” more times than I’ve told her that “I love you”! She is the jealous type.
The C.O.B. Club allows me the opportunity to meet other sports car enthusiast and get to know them on a more personal level. I especially enjoy the destination drives and cruises. The members have made me feel welcome and I enjoy spending time with them and getting more involved in the C.O.B. Club. Thank You, Brian Wells

Years ago I had a wish to own a Corvette. My wife, Julia and I finally made the decision to buy one this past November. It truly was a dream come true. As a young boy I always remembered certain numbers from GM motors. The number that I remembered the most was 427. When Chevy brought that engine back for 2013, I was very happy. It was an opportunity to have a piece of history. We have enjoyed cruising around with the top down and having the wind in the hair. Driving the Corvette 427 brings a smile to my face. As for the club, we have had the pleasure of meeting many nice folks who enjoy our fun in driving a Corvette. After noticing the club on line, I have had the pleasure of talking with some great people from Lockport who have shared their appreciation for the club and the activities that they do. As we attended the meetings, everyone has been most gracious and welcoming. As we approach our fourth meeting, we hope to continue to share our joy of driving our 427 around to different activities and cruises with members from the COB. Respectfully, Julia and Etienne Kojsza
