The Florida Scenic Highways Program
A Program Funded By:
A grassroots effort to heighten awareness of Florida’s intrinsic resources that collectively enhance the travelers experience.
Program participation provides benefits to the community, suchas resource preservation, enhancement and protection.
What is the Florida Scenic Highways Program (FSHP)?
The Florida Scenic Highways Program will preserve, maintain, protect and enhance the intrinsic resources of scenic corridors through a sustainable balance of conservation and land use.
Through community based consensus and partnerships, the program will promote economic prosperity and broaden the traveler’s overall recreational and educational experience.
FSHP Mission Statement
1. Intrinsic resources are visible and consistent along the corridor
2. The corridor must “tell a story”3. Public road that accommodates 2-wheel drive vehicles4. Exhibit significant, exceptional and distinctive features
of the region5. More than 1-mile long and provide access to resources6. Management group (CAG/CME) must be organized and
active7. Community Participation Program (CPP) is required8. Strong local support must be documented9. Corridor Management Plan (CMP) and a Corridor
Management Entity (CME) must be created

• The State of Florida has received 68 Scenic Byway grants since 1994
• Highest funded state for 2 years in a row (2007 and 2008 with $2,049,710 and $3,872,828, respectively)
