Expandedpolystyrene (EPS)andNeopor®are themostcost-effec:vestructuralcore insula:onmaterialsavailable.Comparedtoother foamproducts,bothEPSandBASFNeopor®havethehighestEco-EfficiencywhengivenequalweighttobothcostperinchofRvalue,environmentalimpact as well as poten:al energy savings. R-values per inch for both core materials is substan:ally higher than fiberglass or celluloseinsula:onsandarenotpronetotheseLlingandvoidsthatcanfurtherreducetheeffec:venessofthesealterna:ves.Unlikemostinsula:onproducts theR-valueofEPSproducts (includingNeopor®) increasesas the temperaturedrops.EPSproductsprovidenonutri:onalvalue toplants,animals(includingrodents)ormicroorganisms,soitwillnotrotandishighlyresistanttomildew.
From an environmental standpoint EPS andNeopor® are the clear choice aswell. They require far less energy tomanufacture than otherop:ons,andaremorerecyclablethanextrudedpolystyrene,polyurethaneorpolyisocyanurate.Bothfoamcoresareexpandedwithpentane,whichdoesnotcontributetoozonedeple:onorglobalwarming.UrethaneandotherfoamsrequireanHCFC-basedexpandingagent.
Neopor® is a graphite impregnatedEPS ... these:nygraphitepar:cles act as infraredabsorbers andheat reflectors lowering thematerialsthermalconduc:vity. TheendresultisafoamcorewiththesamegreatadvantagesofstandardEPS,however,withathermalresistance(R-value)nearly20%greaterthanstandardwhiteEPS.
Imisonconsistsofarangeofinterlockingwallpanels,madefromeitherEPSorBASFNeopor,Panelsarepre-cut,inaccordancewithapanelplanthat isbasedonthearchitecturaldesignofthestructure.Steelstuds/columnsareinsertedintogroovesthathavebeencutintothewallpanelsbyaCNCmachine;Thepanelsarethenstoodandsecuredtotheslabusingbracketsorapre-posi:onedtrack.Dependingonapplica:on,thetopofthepanelissecuredbyfixingthestudtoatrackorbracketontheroofslab,orbyinser:ngaringbeamintothetopofthepanel. Panels may also include pre-manufactured sub-frames for doors and windows, and in some cases,completewindowanddoorframeassemblies.
Once the panels have been erected, grooves are cut into the panels for the installa:on of the plumbing andelectrical conduit. Once pinned into posi:onwithwire :es, a steelmesh is installed over the panels for theapplica:onofFibrecote.Thiscanalsobesubs:tutedwithanalkaliresistantfiberglassmesh,bothtobespacedawayfromthepanelinordertoberoughlyinthemiddleofthefibrecoteplaster.
The panel kit is manufactured according to a Technical Pack, for a specific project. The Panel Kit will alwaysincludetheImisonPanels,joinersandfillerPanels,butmayalsoincludeotheritemsspecifiedfortheassemblyofthestructure.Theseitemsmayinclude:Studs,tracks,ringbeams,wallanchors,brackets,windowsframes,mesh,ImisonGM401Polymer,ImisonPE06-08Fibersetc.

For projects where IPS or IPX internal par::on wallsarerequiredtomergewithcofferedslabsorbeams,aswellasforprojectsrequiringverylonginternalpassagewalls.Thecontractorhastheop:ontorequestIPSandIPXwallswiththeinclusionofagalvanisedsteelTopL-Tracktoaddstabilitypriortomeshingandplastering.
In this instance, the contractor should allow R19.73(ex VAT) per running meter of track which wouldtranslate into approximatelyR7.89per squaremeterofwallingfora2.5mhighwall
This allowance is in addi:on to the Imison Panel Kitprice for the respec:vewall typeand thickness.RefertothepanelkitpricesforIPSandIPXwalltypes.
Fibrecote is a cement-based plaster, containing Imison GM401 Polymers and Imison PEfibers. It is further reinforced by the galvanized steel, or alkali resistant fiberglassmesh.Fibrecote is spray applied to both sides of the Imison panels, using an Imison FibrecoteApplicator.Fibrecoteisappliedintwocoats,toatotalsurfacethicknessof20mmfor30minfireratedwalls,or25mmfor1hourfireratedwalls.Thesecondcoatisfloatedsmoothasperconven:onalplastermethodsreadyforpain:ng.Wherenecessary,askimmingmaterialcanbeappliedsuchasRhinoLite.
Fibrecoteiseither:1.Deliveredtositeindryforminbagsorintosilos.2.Batchmixedonsite,or:3.Delivered to site in a ready-mix truck. If ready-mix is used, a retardant is added toensurethatthemixturestaysworkableforaperiodof:me.

ProvisionsforDeflecEon
RefurbishingofexisEngbuildingsWheretheImisonpar::oning/infill/facade wallsareusedinrefurbishingprojects,thepanelsareinstalledintoexis:ng rigid frames of exis:ng buildings in which most of the post-construc:on and service deflec:onshaveoccurred.TheImisonpanelsareflexibleand“soo”,comparedtotheframedbuildingandwouldthusmoveand deflect (within the elas:c ranges) with the framed building. The Fibrecote plaster contains polymersandpolyethylenefibers, increasingelas:cityandflexibility.Crackingduetodifferentmaterialproper:esoftheslab(concrete)andFibrecoteismostlyeliminatedandthereisnosignificantserviceabilityproblems.
UseinnewbuildingsWhere Imisonpanels areusedaspar::oning/infill/facadewalls, and if requiredby the structural engineerofrecord, certain adjustments can be made to the installa:on method to accommodate post construc:ondeflec:onand“creeping”.
A) Imisonwallsystemincludingallfixingandcoverdetails,cornerdetails,wallto-floordetails,walljoints,allnecessaryinternalcolumn/studsystem,bracing,T’s,etc,completeaspermanufacturer'sspecifica:ons,foralldifferentheightsofwallpanels.
B) Tenderersshouldnotethatitemsfixedtowalls(bathroomaccessories,sanitaryfiqngs,skir:ng,cupboards,shelving.etc.)mustbefixedwithaspecifiedFischerfixing.Noaddi:onalclaimsinthisregardwillbeentertained.
C) Pleasenotethatnetwallareas(i.e.totalwallareaminuswindowanddoorareas)shouldbeusedforpurposesofcalcula:ngtheImisonwallingcost.
