2015 Blue Mountains Ukulele Festival Warrimoo PS was represented by Mookulele at the 2015 Blue Mountains Ukulele Festival on Saturday 14th February. Students played and sang a collection of 6 songs from ‘Love Runs Out’ (One Republic) to ‘Living on a Prayer’ (Bon Jovi) with energy and enthusiasm. The group included most members from 2014 years 3 to 6. Congratulations to all of you and special thanks to those members who are now in Year 7 and returned to play with us – Caitlin P, Jordan P, Tea’Rose D, Michaela O, Imogen W and Lucy B. Thank you also to all current members of Mookulele for their efforts and especially to all the parents who transported and supported us. I hope that everyone was pleased with our performance and that current members are looking forward to playing at the 2016 festival. Mr Tomlins

JAM Music Books

This year Stage 2 and 3 students are required to have a JAM Music book each. The books are full of popular songs like ‘Buffalo Girls’, ‘The Best Things in life are free’ and ‘Funky Town’. The books are often used for assembly items and students use them regularly in class time for singing and music lessons.

Jam Books are currently $12.00 each. As we would like students to be able to enjoy these as soon as possible we ask that notes and payment be returned by Thursday 12th March 2015.

UKULELE 2015 We now have over 20 ukulele players in ‘Mookulele’ for 2015 so if you haven’t joined up the deadline will be Thursday 26th February 2015. My initial note said that the group would meet each Wednesday before school at 8am in 6/5T room however, the timetable for whole school plans means that I will have to change the meeting day. From Thursday 26th February 2015, Mookulele will meet each Thursday morning at 8am. I apologise for any inconvenience that this change may cause but I hope you can understand that although I highly value my time with ‘Mookulele’, the teaching and learning of 6/5T is my first consideration. For the first time I am also considering asking Mookulele members to purchase a ‘group’ T shirt that will make an impression when we perform. I am presently researching the details and hope that members will be impressed with what I propose (my information to come soon). I am looking forward to another successful year playing uke with the students. P.S. If you are reading this and would support a Warrimoo Community Ukulele group, please let me know. R. Tomlins

Schools’ Clean Up Day

Friday, 27th

February 2014 In 2015 we are celebrating 25 years of volunteer action to ‘Clean Up Australia.’ Last year, an estimated 572,406 volunteers cleaned up 15,708 tonnes at 7,140 sites across Australia. Thankfully, there’s not too much rubbish at Warrimoo Public School! It’s an activity that assists our students to learn about the impact of litter on our environment and make a difference in their school and local community. With this in mind, would each student from K–6 bring along a pair of gardening gloves for this Friday 27th February 2015. It’s not too late to join a local clean up site on Clean Up Australia Day, Sunday 1st March 2015. http://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au Mrs Beaton (on behalf of our Environment Committee)

Warrimoo Public School’s

Swimming Carnival

On Tuesday 17th February 2015, the students from 3-6 (plus one Year 2 student) travelled to Glenbrook Pool to compete in our

annual swimming carnival. The sun was shining brightly and the students all represented the school in a fine manner, displaying

great behaviour, great swimming talent and great sportsmanship. Well Done, Warrimoo!

A special congratulations to the winning house - Waratah. Also a

special congratulations to our Age Champions. I will not announce the names until after this weeks’ assembly – it will be a lovely surprise

for the children to hear the announcement at the assembly.

The Blue Mountains PSSA Swimming Carnival is on this Friday 27th February 2015

at Glenbrook Pool. The following fifteen students from Warrimoo PS have qualified and will represent the school – Cleveland A, Jaclyn B, Louise B, Lucinda B, Ivy E,

Peyton E, Quinn E, Myles F, Will H, Mitchell H, Catherine M, Caitlin M, Hamish M, Imogen P, and Wil W. We wish them all well and I know they will represent the

school with pride.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful parents who came along to help out

with the different jobs at the carnival, and to the parents who came along to support and cheer on

the children. I would also like to give a special thank you to the children for their wonderful

behaviour and team spirit they displayed on the day.

A great day was had by all!

Judy Withers

A big thank you to Mr Troy

Penney and the P&C for

replacing the sand in the

sand pit.

Monthly P&C Meeting

Annual General Meeting Tuesday 10th March 7:30pm

Next month’s P&C Meeting will the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and will be held at 7:30pm on Tuesday 10th March in the staff room.

All parents, caregivers and community members are welcome to attend.

P&C Assistance Required!

Vital P&C Roles must be filled at the March AGM

The P&C's AGM will be occurring in March and whilst all roles are vacated and re-elected

at this meeting, there are 2 roles in particular that must be filled with new people. Both the

current president and treasurer have been in the role for 3 years and so can no longer

continue in these positions.

As the P&C plays a vital role within the school community, particularly in relation to

raising additional funds to assist with the education of our children, it is imperative that

these 2 positions get filled.

The role of president doesn't take too much time apart from being at and chairing the

meetings which happen 2 to 3 times per term.

The role of treasurer takes more time but does not require accounting experience, purely a

reasonable ability with numbers and an attention to detail.

If this sounds like you PLEASE consider helping out the Warrimoo PS community. The

current treasurer will still be around and is more than happy to assist whoever takes this

position on until they feel comfortable with what needs to be done.

If you have any questions or feel willing to consider this position, please contact Kirsty on

(02) 4751 3361 or 0411 260 215.

Many thanks for your consideration of these two positions, the P&C committee.
