The golf season, unfortunately, has come to a conclusion all too soon. Greg advises that the
course and grounds crew was able to complete the fall work. They also took advantage of
the fact that some crews had been mobilized to do work completing Phase I and as a result
they completed some of the Phase II work that was scheduled for the spring of 2013. The
Board of Directors is finalizing the budget for 2013. We will be reviewing and assessing the
strategic success factors that were set for 2012 and setting our goals for 2013.
Greg has commenced a complete review of the food and beverage services operation. In
carrying out this review he will be assessing the feedback that has been received from
members informally throughout the year and through the short survey that was done. He is
also tapping into local expertise of those involved in the food and beverage industry in
Regina and retaining the services of an outside consultant with expertise in operating a food
and beverage service at a golf course. We face unique challenges because we are essentially
a seasonal operation and we have a limited number of patrons.
Greg’s report to the Board will also be looking at the question of how best to utilize our
facilities with a view to ensuring that there is a high quality of service being provided. The
Spike Lounge is used increasingly by people who want to enjoy casual dining. At the same
time it addresses its original function of a place where people can grab a snack while passing
through or stop for a beverage after a round of golf. We have to ensure that the casual dining
experience is a positive one. The courtyard is one of the jewels of our Club. There aren’t
many places more beautiful than the courtyard on a summer evening when the long shadows
of the trees are stretching out over the course. We want to ensure that the quality of service
ensures that as many Members as possible take advantage of the opportunity of utilizing this
facility. The Board looks forward to receipt of Greg’s report and recommendations in due
course.
Finally, I want to thank all of the staff of the Pro Shop, the Spike Lounge, the dining room,
the kitchen and the course and grounds crew. These people, many of whom are very young,
greet their duties with a smile and enhance our enjoyment of the Club. Thanks.

Golf Course Fall Maintenance
As Aaron mentioned in his November President’s message, the golf course maintenance crew
lead by our Golf Course Superintendent Mike Kupchanko and his First Assistant Superintendent
Chris Marchiori, have accomplished a considerable amount of course improvements these past
several weeks as well as winterizing the golf course. I thought the membership would enjoy viewing
the following pictures as well as joining me in thanking Mike, Chris and their crew for the ongoing
great efforts.
