Construction of irrigation

The irrigation infrastructure existed in the Segura from Roman times to the present. The following defines some of the irrigation techniques used since ancient times in this basin:

AQUEDUCT

Channels with a high and constant inclination to the ground used to transport water over long distances.

“QANAT” o “BOQUERA”

IRRIGATION DITCH

Water pipe system operated by gravity, located at higher elevations than the irrigated areas. Water management in Spain sees this as a scarce natural resource, which must be regulated by a water planning in order to balance its agricultural, industrial and consumer products.

97.5% of the planet's water is in the oceans and seas, it is not suitable for drinking, agriculture, and industry in general. The remaining 2.5% is fresh water and 0.26% of the total mass of water in the world is easily usable for human use.The average consumption of water per person per day in developed countries amounts to more than twice the strictly necessary.
