Each of the 96 holes in the processor is restricted in order to maintain constant pressure, even if all the plate well positions are not filled. Positive pressure processing offers many advantages over traditional methods. Reproducible Analyte Recoveries A major problem with conventional vacuum manifolds occurs as faster flowing channels in the 96-well plate run dry, allowing a free flow path for vacuum through the dry ports, thereby slowing the flow on the remaining wells. This may result in additional variation in well processing times, and possibly irreproducible analyte recoveries. The Waters Positive Pressure-96 Processor gasket with 96 independent ports provides restricted output of inert gas at every port. The processor exerts the same motive force to every port whether it had a full or dry well downstream or even no well access at all. This will provide highly uniform extractions which may improve the reproducibility of analyte recoveries. Improved Flow for Viscous Samples When processing viscous samples, vacuum manifolds often cannot provide adequate processing power, since the maximum pressure is limited to less than atmospheric pressure (approx. 15 psi). The Waters Positive Pressure-96 Processor allows for gas pressures up to 80 psi, supplying greater motive force for viscous sample flow. Adjusting the pressure up or down provides smooth and immediate flow response and high flow control on variable viscosity plasma samples on a 96-well plate. Fits all 96-Well Plate Formats Unlike many 96-well vacuum manifolds, the Waters Positive Pressure-96 Processor is self-adjusting to plate height, thus accommodating all 96-well plate formats, both modular and integrated, without the need for gaskets. Fits 96 1 cc Flangeless SPE Cartridges The Waters Positive Pressure-96 Processor provides the means to batch process Waters 1 cc 96 flangeless SPE cartridges. Waters 96-flangeless holder is designed to hold up to 96 1cc flangeless SPE cartridges, and to fit into the 96-position footprint of the manifold. The cartridge and holder assembly is then stacked onto the appropriate collection plate.
