ABOUT THE HUSTLIJN OWLS

The Owls enter the weekend with a 7-2 overall record and 14-5 CCC record. They are cur-rently ranked second in the CCC, 2 wins behind the Mountaineers. The Owls are also tied in CCC play with College of Idaho and only one win ahead of Warner Pacific. OIT is currently on a four game winning streak, sweeping the last two weekends against Concordia, South-ern, Northwest, and Evergreen.

LAST TIME THEY MET...Dec. 15, 2012Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon women’s basketball team picked up their fourth Cascade Collegiate Conference victory with a 56-52 win over Oregon Tech tonight.

Brook Randall led all scorers with 18 points and 4 assists. Nicole Redd and Jorie Freeman added 12 and 10 points respectively.

Oregon Tech was led by Nicole Aboumrad with 11 points. Karissa Dixon, Karly Leveque, and Maria Ramirez each added 7 points each.

The Mountaineers jumped out to an early lead scoring off of a Randall jumper in the first 7 seconds. EOU would extend their lead by as much as 10 before the half going into the locker room up, 32-22. Randall lead all scorers in the first half with 14 points shooting 6-of-9 from the field.

As a team EOU shot 50% (14-of-28) from the field, compared to OIT who only shot 36% (9-of-25) for the first half.

The Mountaineers would start off the second half much like the first. They would extend their lead by as much as 14 with 7:28 left in the ball game. The Hustlin’ Owls would not give up as they made a run and close the Mountaineers lead to only 2 with 3:15 left to play, however the run was a little too late.

EOU finished the game shooting just 35% (21-of-60) from the field while OIT shot 32% (18-of-56).

Eastern will return home to play Evergreen State College next Friday at 5:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be made available at EOUsports.com

ABOUT THE CONFERENCEHeading into the second half of conference play, it looks like Eastern Oregon will control their own destiny as they look for the CCC regular season title and number one overall seed but they will be tested this weekend as Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon visit La Grande.SOU and OIT will also have to travel to College of Idaho this weekend which will allow for a lot more clarity in the standings following the weekend. Northwest and Evergreen travel to Corban and North-west Christian as well. The final CCC game will feature Warner Pacific traveling to Concordia on Saturday. Both the Knights and Cavs also have non-conference games scheduled this week as they look to stay sharp for the re-mainder of the regular season.
