ABOUT THE RAIDERSThe Raiders are currently 12-1 and 2-0 (CCC) in their 2012-13 season only losing to Puget Sound. They have yet to score less than 79 points per game. Southern Oregon’s Melissa Sweat, a 5-11 junior from San Diego State, leads the team this season. She has won CCC Player of the Week four weeks out of the seven. The team currently has a 50.8 field goal percentage and a 66 free throw percentage.

LAST TIME THEY MET...Eastern Women Raid Ashland for Victory...January 1, 2012ASHLAND, Ore. – The No. 10 Eastern Oregon University women’s basketball team remained atop the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings with a 62-46 win at Southern Oregon University Saturday.

The Mountaineers (16-4, 8-2 Cascade Conference) have a half-game advantage over Corban University for the CCC lead after the win. EOU led by as many as 21 points in the game, and completed a regular season sweep over Southern.

Brooke Randall led Eastern with 17 points. The junior was 3-of-11 from the field, but 9-for-10 from the free-throw line. Korrie Bourn added 14 points, making four of her five shots from the field. Kyle Miller and Chayla Jones each grabbed seven rebounds. Kelsea Hurliman threw a team-high three assists.

The Mountaineers were 31 percent from the field and 6-of-25 from behind the arc. EOU made five its 12 three-pointers in the first half, but only one of its 13 in the second half. Eastern finished 26-for-33 from the free-throw line, making 20 of its 22 attempts in the second half. The game featured four ties and one lead change as the Raiders grabbed the lead to begin the game, 3-0, but it was EOU that responded with a run midway through the first half. With the score tied at 10, the Mountaineers went on an 8-0 run, to take an 18-10 lead with 6:45 remaining in the first half.

Eastern improved to 12-1 when leading at halftime, as it had a 29-18 halftime advantage. EOU grabbed its largest lead of the game, 46-25, after a pair of free throws from Vintea Georges with 13:02 left in regulation. SOU came within 13 points three times before the final score was decided.

The Mountaineers’ bench has yet to be outscored by an opponents’ bench this season. Saturday, EOU had a 20-12 advantage. Eastern was outscored in the paint, 20-14, but had a 17-15 points off of turn-overs advantage. EOU outrebounded Southern, 44-32, and forced 24 turnovers. The Mountaineers committed 22 turnovers. The Raiders (12-10, 3-8) were led by RaTanya Newsome’s 15 points. She was 6-of-17 from the field. Angelica Cahee added 12 points. SOU was 33 percent from the field, 2-for-15 from three-point range, and 14-of-28 from the free-throw line.

Eastern travels to Klamath Falls Sunday for matchup with Oregon Tech (18-4, 7-3). The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but due to inclement weather it was moved to Sunday at 2 p.m. Live video and stats will be on EOUSports.com. Live radio will be on KUBQ 98.7 FM, with pregame begin-ning at 1:45 p.m.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCEConference play resumes this weekend as the student-athletes of the CCC wrap up the fall academic term. College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon play visit to Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon on Friday and Saturday while Warner Pacific hosts cross-town rival Concordia on Saturday night.Corban and Northwest Christian will head north a few days later, taking on Evergreen and Northwest in CCC games on Monday and Tuesday.

WEEK EIGHT: SOUTHERN & OITTHE LAST TIME OUT ...MOUNTAINEERS FORCE PIRATES TO SET SAIL...December 9, 2012La Grande, - Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women’s basketball team held off a comeback by Whitworth to defeat the Pirates 76-61. The Mountaineers (11-2, 2-0 CCC) were led by Brooke Randall with 20 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assist. Jorie Freeman had an outstanding game as she recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Emily Guthrie led the Pirates(7-3) with 10 points and 2 rebounds. Teammate Katara Belton-Sharp added 9 points and 1 rebound. Eastern shot a high percentage in the first half shooting 15-of-25 (60%) from the field and 2-of-6 from behind the arc. The Pirates were just 11-of-29 (37%) from the field and 4-of-12 from behind the arc.

In the second half Eastern would get off to a slow start. The Mountaineers saw their 7 point lead decrease to 3 within minutes. Midway through the half Eastern would go on a run and increase their lead to double digits with a basket by Freeman assisted by Tina Miller. The Pirates wouldn’t go away as they went on a run of their own closing the game within 4 points. Eastern would end the game outscoring the Pirates 18-7 in the last seven minutes. The Mountaineers shot 32-of-57 (56%) for the game while the Pirates shot 21-of-56 (37%). Eastern outscored Whitworth in the paint 50-14 and outrebounded them 36-29. NO. 10 EOU EASES PAST LCSC..December 8, 2012Walla Walla, Wash. – The No. 10 Eastern Oregon women’s bas-ketball team eased past Lewis-Clark State College this afternoon, 62-36.

Eastern was led by Korrie Bourn with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Kelsea Hurliman and Brook Randall contributed with 15 and 12 points respectively.

Brittaney Niebergall led LSCS with 15 points and 6 rebounds. An-nie Kane also contributed with 8 points.

EOU jumped out to an early lead in the first half and never looked back, leading by as much 26. The Mountaineers went into half-time up, 35-13.

In the second half all of the Mountaineers would see playing time as Eastern would extend their led to as much as 26, shooting 34% (23-66) from the field and 8-26 from behind the arc. Lewis & Clark shot 35% (14-40) from the field and 1-13 from downtown.
