The Northwest University Eagles (2-16, 1-10 CCC) are currently ranked last in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. They are currently on an eight game losing streak and are looking for their second conference win. Last weekend they were swept by Corban and Northwest Christian in two nail biters, both games won by 8 points or less.

LAST TIME THEY MET...Dec. 12, 2012La Grande, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon women’s basketball team defeated Northwest University 88-54 tonight at Quinn Coliseum. Senior Brooke Randall would lead the way with 23 points and 5 assist for the Moun-taineers. Kelsea Hurliman added 13 points and 3 rebounds, while Jorie Freeman finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Northwest was led by Sanda Milovic with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Domi Mende-zona added 9 points and 2 assists. A total of five different lead changes and two ties would take place in the first half. The first half was evenly matched until midway through when Eastern went on a 12-0 run to open the game up. EOU would extend their lead by as much as 19 points just before the end of the half as sending them into the locker room ahead of the Eagles, 47-28. The Mountaineers shot 40% (15-of-37) from the field and 40% (8-of-20) from be-hind the arc in the first half. The Eagles shot 31% (11-of-35) from the field and only 16% (2-of-12) from the three point line. Eastern started off the second half on a 6-0 run before a basket by Milovic would put Northwest on the board. EOU furthered their lead by as much as 39 points as Northwest went on a scoring drought for 5 minutes. It wasn’t until 10:26 left in the half that the Eagles’ Jordan Asher would hit a three pointer to end Eastern’s run. The Mountaineers’ largest lead of the game was 47 points. All Mountaineers saw playing time tonight as Eastern’s bench outscored and out rebounded the Eagles 31-13 and 56-37 respectively.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCEThe Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon continue to roll through the Cascade Conference schedule, posting a 15-game win streak that has EOU in first place by two games over Col-lege of Idaho. Both EOU and C of I will take their records on the road this week as they make the long trek to Washington to take on Evergreen and Northwest. Warner Pacific has a pair of tough road tests as they join Concordia in traveling to Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech.In the final matchup of the weekend, Corban will play host to rival Northwest Christian on Friday night before traveling to New Hope Christian for a non-conference tilt.
