Jazz 91.9 WCLK Affiliations David C. Linton, a former senior music label executive returns to radio after a successful career heading promotions departments at Warner Bros, Island Records, Arista & Capitol Records, as the new program director of Jazz 91.9 WCLK. Linton’s career started in radio as an on air personality rising to program director and eventually general manager previous to the record label positions. WCLK General Manager, Wendy Williams states, “we are excited to have someone of David’s experience in both radio and the music industry to be leading our station at this time.” Join us in welcoming David to Jazz 91.9 WCLK! Jazz 91.9 WCLK was selected by Creative Loafing critics from a pool of more than 50 radio stations in the Atlanta market. “We are truly humbled to receive such an incredible honor from Creative Loafing,” says Wendy Williams, general manager, Jazz 91.9 WCLK. “Since the inception of the Creative Loafing Best of Atlanta honors, Jazz 91.9 WCLK has received tremendous accolades from readers and critics alike. “In addition to its licensee, Clark Atlanta University, WCLK acknowledges its cohort of supportive members, listeners, staff and announcers, students, the WCLK Advisory Board and Jazz Preservation Society members for its growing success.” Creative Loafing has been honoring organizations in the Best of Atlanta edition since 2005. Join Jazz 91.9 WCLK at the fourth annual Taste of Hartsfield -Jackson food festival on Thursday, November 8 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Domestic Terminal atrium before the security checkpoints. Taste of Hartsfield-Jackson showcases the diverse dining options the world’s busiest airport, featuring samples from some of Atlanta’s best restaurants as well as a live chef competition and live music from Atlanta-based band Gritz and Jelly Butter. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $15 for 10 tasting vouchers. All ticket proceeds benefit No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the U.S.

Georgia born Guitarist Willie Barrow started playing guitar at the age of 9. Early in his career, he explored many different styles of music. However, when he first heard the genius of Jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell, Willie devoted himself to becoming a Jazz artist. His major influences include guitarists Joe Pass, Pat Metheny and John Scofield as well as other instrumentalists. Willie currently resides in the Atlanta area where he leads his own groups and works as a freelance guitarist. In July 1961 he moved to N.Y.C. went to N.Y. School of music, also studied jazz guitar with Ronny Lee and Sal Salvador. Taught Saturday morning guitar classes for New Jersey Board of Education 5 years.
