Worship Service Fourth Sunday of Lent

March 6, 2016

“THE WESTMINSTER CHIMES” (Please use this time to prepare for worship.)

GATHERING TOGETHER

WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS SHARING JOYS AND CONCERNS PRELUDE: 10,000 Reasons CALL TO WORSHIP: based on Hebrews 12:1-2 Ainsley Herrick

Leader: Let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

People: Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the founder and finisher of our faith. Leader: For the joy set before Him, Jesus endured the cross, scorning its shame,

and sat down at the right hand of God. People: Let us worship our Savior in the blessed assurance of His grace.

* GATHERING SONG: #341—Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine * PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (unison) Ainsley Herrick Holy and loving God, too often we are impatient with others. Too often we are unkind toward others. Too often we ignore you when you clearly speak to us. Too often we do what we want against your warning. Too often we presume you will freely forgive us, even as we forget how much your forgiveness costs. We are broken, divided, and weak. We are lost without you. As our Good Shepherd, hold us and heal us. Lord, we confess to you…

SILENT CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

* GREETING ONE ANOTHER: Leader: May the peace of Christ be with you.

People: And also with you. * CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: Embrace the Cross, by John G. Elliott

I am crucified with Christ, therefore I no longer live. Jesus Christ now lives in me. (repeat)
