We must bring our requests to God!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,

by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your

requests to God. Philippians 4:6

We are told to bring our own needs to God.

1 Timothy 2:1I urge, then, first of all, that

petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for

all people –

We are told to pray for others.

Ephesians 6:18

Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and

requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on

praying for all the Lord’s people.

Ultimately we want to pray in line

with God’s will.

But we always start where we are.

John 14:13-14

I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the

Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I

will do it.

John 15:16

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and

so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

Matthew 26:36-39

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground

and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be

taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

James 4:2-3

You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask,

you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you

get on your pleasures.

We can ask … and ask big!

Matthew 7:7-11

Ask, and you will receive. Seek, and you will find.

Knock, and the door will be opened to you. For

everyone who asks will receive, and anyone who

Matthew 7:7-11

seeks will find, and the door will be opened to those who

knock. Would any of you who are fathers give your son a stone when he asks

for bread?

Matthew 7:7-11

Or would you give him a snake when he asks for a

fish? As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children.

Matthew 7:7-11

How much more, then, will your Father in heaven give good things to those who

ask him!

Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than

all we ask or imagine, according to His power that

is at work within us,

Ephesians 3:20-21

to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus

throughout all generations, for ever and ever!

Pray with others!

Matthew 26:37-38

He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with

him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them,

Matthew 26:37-38

‘My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep

watch with me.’

Matthew 18:19-20

Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree

about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by

my Father in heaven.

Matthew 18:19-20

For where two or three gather in my name, I am

there with them.

Colossians 4:2

Continue (plural verb) steadfastly in prayer, being

watchful in it with thanksgiving.

We must persist in talking with God.

We are engaging in spiritual battle.

Ephesians 6:18-20

Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and

always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Ephesians 6:18-20

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may

be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the

mystery of the gospel,

Ephesians 6:18-20

for which I am an ambassador in chains.

Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Our prayers will become more in line

with God’s desires.

We are changed.
