• Learn core concepts and practical skills involved in Web design and production.

• Explore the fundamentals of Web design

• Explore the role of interactivity from aesthetic and technical viewpoints.

• Survey industry-standard media production tools including 3D modeling.

• Plan and build a media project.

Web Publishing

• Discover how Dreamweaver supports the Web design workflow.

• Develop interfaces that contain forms, layers and rollovers.

• Design websites using cascading style sheets (CSS).

• Learn to produce and manage Web sites.

• Create a simple animation using Flash.

• The Dreamweaver workspace and workflow

Interactive Media Production

• Develop interactive Web experiences and media presentations.

– Building a pre-loaded movie

– Optimization, plug-in detection, preloaders and loading multiple movies

Admissions Requirements

• Experience with the skills and tools used to publish pages to the web.

• A working knowledge of your chosen Operating System – Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, or a Mac

• Knowledge of office productivity tools, and standard internet communication tools like FTP and e-mail.

• Computer graphics fundamentals and familiarity with a basic graphics or image editing program desirable.

• Completion of at least two years of college preferred.

Technology Requirements

• Experience with the skills and tools used to publish pages to the web.

• A working knowledge of your chosen Operating System – Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, or a Mac

• Knowledge of office productivity tools, and standard internet communication tools like FTP and e-mail.

• Computer graphics fundamentals and familiarity with a basic graphics or image editing program desirable.

• Completion of at least two years of college preferred.

• Your own computer and high-speed internet connection for homework.

• Adobe Creative Suite for homework. The academic version at 80% discount is available at the University of Washington Book Store’s Technology Center.

• Mac users. Familiarity with Windows operating system to make use of resources in the PC lab. Some file conversions are necessary if you are using Mac OS.

following application

• Enrollment:

– Enrollment information sent following acceptance

– Seat reserved in program until two weeks before first class.

• After that date, program enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis
