WATER COLOUR COURSE WITH KEITH HORNBLOWER

The Icelandic Travel Company Art Travel arranges courses for groups sharing the desire to explore Iceland and to make friends with kindred spirits looking for inspiration in this stunning environment. All our courses feature a special understanding of nature and culture presented to course participants in a personalized, enjoyable, and entertaining manner.

This trip is primarily intended for water colour artists and for people who are interested in learning to paint with water colours, although some experience with the medium is advisable. The tour is for people who share interest in art and want to experience the unique nature of Iceland and learn about Icelandic art and culture. The trip will also give the course participants an opportunity to meet and talk with Icelandic artists.

Siglufjörður

We offer an 8 day trip to Iceland’s northenmost town, Siglufjörður, a historic fishing town whose fame and fortune has always been linked to the ebb and flow of the fishing industry. We will stay at Siglunes Guesthouse in the village by the fjord. In addition to the Water Colour Course the group will be provided with a full-day excursion to Akureyri and Mývatn and it will also be possible to take shorter trips from Siglufjörður in the afternoons/evenings during our stay in the north.

At the end of the week the group will spend 2 nights in Reykjavík. On Sunday, we will explore the city, its culture and meet Icelandic artists at their studios followed by a farewell dinner/party in the evening.

Keith Hornblower, a great painter from England, will be teaching on the water colour course and Vallý Pálsdóttir will be the driver guide and administrator.

ITINERARYSunday, 10th of September

Pick up at Keflavik airport in the morning and in Reykjavík for those who have already arrived Iceland.

11.00 We will drive to Siglufjörður in North Iceland, stopping for a lunch break in the little town Borgarnes. We will have two more stops along the way to Siglufjörður.

8.30 Full day excursion:

We will drive to Akureyri which is the Capital of the north, sight-seeing and lunch.

After lunch we will drive to Goðafoss, the falls of the Gods and onward to Mývatn area, enjoying the dramatic and beautiful volcanic scenery, including: Leirhnjúkur, Námaskarð and Víti.
