Unit 7 Evaluation

The main purpose of my blog site/website is to display my coursework that I have done and uploaded. When creating my blog site/website I didn’t have any skills and methods to creating it.

Before I updated my website I didn’t want it to look plain and simple, but after the feedback I received I was told that it looked very bland and dull.Navigating through the site was fairly easy as it had simple headings with sub headings to different tabs.

When setting up a new site I had to create an email and create an account and sign into the email to verify it. This part of creating a word press website was fairly easy as I had an email account set up already, but then came choosing the layout of the website and this bit was pretty hard as we had to find a free blog layout. When creating the website I picked a layout called ‘Lodestar’ and this is displayed in the picture above. This layout was very simple and didn’t look very appealing to the eye. A hardship I had to overcome was the tabs and ordering them correctly. I had to drag the correct headings to the suitable space and also drag the sub headings under the correct headings.

I then had to sort out the fonts and colours of the website. The original background was white and the fonts ere very small, so I changed them so that the font was visible and that they stand out against any background. A hardship that I encountered was changing the theme of the website to make it look more professional.

When updating my website I had to make sure I knew what I wanted, I wanted a more professional and presentable website to layout my work on. I decided to go with snaps as my next

style as it has a very easy navigation system and the colour I chose compliments the tabs being highlighted in red. I chose the colour khaki because it is a very

clean colour and having black text makes it visually appealing. Snaps is a better choice than lodestar because in my research I found out that having a simple but appealing layout is the best option as it isn’t complicated to navigate around. The tabs are very clear and the layout of the tabs is more ideal as they have a better font; the khaki background and the red tabs adds a little bit of vibrancy and positivity whereas the dark colours like black give offs a dull feeling.

In the future if I was to create another website I think I will take notes about the snaps load out as it is more creative and looks visually appealing, but I know that I will have to make my own load out more appealing and professional. I also know that the colours have to match and not just be random colours mixed together.
