Return Nominations to: Aasiya Hassan Engineering Masterclass Coordinator [email protected] 020 7670 2942 Year 9 Ri Engineering Masterclasses at Trinity School . 14 Mar 21 Mar 28 Mar 25 Apr 02 May. 10:00 – 12:30 We would like to invite you to nominate pupils to attend a series of Saturday morning Royal Institution (Ri) Engineering Masterclasses at Trinity School on the dates above, free of charge. What are Ri Engineering Masterclasses? Ri Engineering Masterclasses offer students the opportunity to investigate topics in engineering, combining theory with interactive exploration. Masterclass workshop leaders are drawn from industry, academia and education and are keen to share their passion about their subject. Each week the students will meet a new workshop leader and explore an exciting area of Engineering that falls outside the national curriculum. We hope to inspire them, and to encourage them to further their engagement with Engineering. Who are Ri Masterclasses for? We aim to challenge students who are well-motivated and curious about Engineering. We are particularly interested in reaching students who may not have access to similar opportunities. Students nominated should be in Year 9 in March 2020 and are expected to attend the whole series. They should only be invited to attend one series, so please check that they have not been nominated for Ri Masterclasses in another subject this academic year. Do teachers have to attend with their students? No, however teachers from nominating schools are encouraged to attend one or more of the sessions as active helpers. This additional support benefits the session leaders and students, and gives teachers the opportunity to view their subject in a new context. How does the nomination process work? Below is a parent letter, a student application form and a teacher nomination form. Each school can nominate a maximum of five students - any nominees beyond the fifth will receive no communications from the Ri. To nominate students: Identify no more than five students who meet the criteria outlined above Duplicate the parent letter and the student application form and distribute to the parents/carers of the nominees Collect the student application forms once complete Fill out your teacher nomination form, identifying the priority order of your student nominations (we may not have capacity for all of your nominees) and also identify any teachers who wish to attend as helpers Registered Charity No. 227938
