Maths CountingThis week we would like you to practise counting – both forwards and backwards- from 1 to 10 (and beyond if you can). Here’s a link to some counting rhymes:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7D4K9oi7oBM

Practise counting groups of objects within 3/5/10 or up to 20 depending on the needs of your child. These can be randomly arranged, close together and chose a range of different sized objects.

Ask your child to give you a certain number of objects from a larger group, e.g. ‘Please give me 4 blocks’ or ‘Set the table for 5 people.’ Encourage them to say out loud each number as they add them to the group.

For a bigger challenge practise separating out a group of objects into 2 sets. For example, 5 toys could be arranged in different quantities on two plates (3 and 2, 1 and 4 etc).

English The Three Little Pigs

Can you listen to the story of The Three Little Pigs:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLR2pLUsl-Y Ask your child what happened in the story and ask them questions about it.Activities:

Make some puppets to use when acting out the story. Create a mask for one of the characters. Use a cereal box or building blocks to make a house for one of your toys to live in.

PhonicsYou could go on a listening walk around your house –

what can your child hear? Can they describe the sounds, e.g. ticking, tweeting, stamping?

If your child is beginning to notice and recognise letter sounds, they could watch and sing the S song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSVzk2pqWB4

Go on a sound hunt. Can you find anything in your house which starts with the s sound?

Please reinforce the sssssss sound at the beginning of each word for the objects your child finds. You could sort them into things that start with s and things that don’t start with s. Maybe you could try and form the letter s too.

Physical DevelopmentRoll a dice and see how many times you have to complete each activity:
