The upper secondary syllabus for Food and Nutrition (F&N) is more complex is terms of theory as compared to the lower secondary Food and Consumer Education syllabus. As mentioned previously, it is paramount that as educators, we do not refer to one web resource exclusively as there are many ideas available online that we can adapt and improve on, to give the best to our students; to take their learning out of the classroom and to pique their interest in the subject. One web resource I find useful to help enhance and enrich the teaching of Food and Nutrition is http://fnic.nal.usda.gov , a website by United States Department of Agriculture. During my contract teaching experience, I discovered that F&N students have a tough time trying to grasp content and have problems memorizing the content heavy subjects. Therefore, having a web resource that provides pamphlets or pictorial explanation may help them with acquiring the required knowledge to meet the demands of the syllabus. One main feature of this web resource is the availability of browsing by subject, at the bottom left hand corner of the website, as shown in Figure 1. 1

One web resource I find useful to help enhance and enrich the teaching of Food and Nutrition is http://fnic.nal.usda.gov, a website by United States Department of Agriculture.

These links provide useful resources for both the educator and students. For example, the subject on lifecycle nutrition provides dietary guidelines and factors to consider when planning meals for infants all the up to elderly. Meal planning is an essential part of examinations, as students are required to write an essay about planning meals for a given specific group of people. This web resource also address misconceptions and include a list of concerns related to the nutritional needs and dietary needs of different group of people. This will extend the learning of the students, as they would be able to critically think of current world issues such as ethical consideration of food attainment. In essence, the website provides a comprehensive resource of information related to food and nutrition.

Another feature of the web resource is being able to search for topics alphabetically. This acts as a glossary, which both teachers and students can peruse when unclear about a certain terminology used in the textbook or if they are simply conducting a research.

It should be noted that food science is emerging in the industry and is a substantial component in F&N syllabus. Hence, it would be myopic of an educator to restrict students to one web source. There are many food science web sources that are available for educators to use. These web sources provide food science experiments and concepts that could be use to enhance both teaching and learning.
