What are we throwing out?
Did you know? Compostable material like food scraps and grass clippings create methane gas in landfill. Methane gas is 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide in trapping heat in the atmosphere.
Worm farms are a fun way to recycle food waste and produce nutritious fertiliser for your garden.Come to a free workshop OR do an online tutorial to kick start your own worm farm at homewww.compostrevolution.com.au
Where does my waste go? Each year, Parramatta residents throw away more than 36,000 tonnes of waste into red-lidded garbage bins. These bins are sent to the UR3R facility at Eastern Creek to be sorted. Organic waste is removed and composted. What’s left is sent to landfill.
