WHY are these the rules?Think about the reasons each rule would be important for our classroom. You have 5 minutes to write down at least 2 reasons for each rule. When Dr. Jones-Wilson says to, pair with your neighbor to compare your responses.

1) Start class on time and with all materials. (textbooks, homework, pencil, paper, etc.)

If I CHOOSE to break a rule…1) Warning. (Verbal)2) A Behavior Citation. (MUST be signed by a

parent and returned the NEXT DAY)3) Phone call home. (Behavior Citation not

returned OR repetitive penalties)4) Pod isolation. (4 Behavior Citations – in a nine

week period – OR repetitive penalties)5) Office Referral. (Administrator decides

appropriate penalty) Repetitive disruptions, disrespect, etc. will result

in skipped steps and a definite call home! Each day is a new chance, but remember to

learn from your mistakes and make better choices!

Rituals (How we do what we do…)

Rituals are procedures and tasks we experience all the time in our classroom… - We come into class everyday - We use supplies everyday - We sharpen pencils and ask for passes

everyday - We take tests and quizzes every week - We check homework often

Define “Rituals”8

Sharpening Pencils &Asking for Passes Always sharpen pencils during Warm-Up. If you need to sharpen your pencil during class,

lifts pencil(s) in the air so that your teachers can see them and nod “yes” or “no”.

PASSES should be written in your planner, in pen. Write the date, time, and destination CLEARLY.

Silently raise your planner in the air for one of your teachers to see and he/she will come to your desk/have you come up to sign it.

If you need to go to the nurse, raise your hand and wait for one of your teachers to talk to you about it before filling out a pass.

ALWAYS WAIT FOR YOUR TEACHERS TO GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO LEAVE THE CLASSROOM!!
