UNESCO

Why Ghent?

· Because Lonely Planet has called our city “Europe’s best kept secret” and a must see destination for 2011.

· Because National Geographic Traveler Magazine has listed this city as the most authentic historic city in the world and full of life.

· Because you must witness with your own eyes what Napoleon and the mysterious thief of ‘The Just Judges’ panel already knew: The Mystic Lamb really is key to European art history.

· Because the city comes to life again after sunset.

· And of course because you like to get off the beaten track!

...that's why!!

Preparatory assignments and closed Facebook group: The organization of the course consists of two parts. The expected outcomes of preparatory assignments (module) based on distance learning result in a 5-day intensive program with activities taking place in a multi-professional and multicultural context. The preparatory assignments are included in this letter.

A Play on Reality - Prosthesis theatre on inclusion: On Monday, we will attend a ‘try-out performance’ of a group of clients of the University hospital in Ghent. The clients worked together with an occupational therapist and a dance/movement performer in developing a theater/dance/movement performance related to the coping process of their disability. We will have a discussion with both professionals about the process and the performance. The Dutch article published in the local Newspaper is below. Venue: Minard showburg: Walpoortstraat 15, Gent

Welcome dinner:

On Monday 16th of April, we plan a welcome dinner in one of the most intercultural parts of the city.

Welcome reception in the City Hall of Ghent, Wednesday 19th of April.

On Wednesday evening, all participants of the professional conference and the student programme

are invited to a welcome reception in the Gothic City Hall of Ghent.

Preparatory assignment 1 – Introduction of yourself on Facebook

At the beginning of March, you will be invited to join a Facebook group of

DiSI in Ghent 2018.

We would like you to introduce yourself by means of a story of yourself. Tell

a story about yourself and accompany it with one or more pictures. 5 selfies

in your natural environment would be perfect - pictures that represent your

life !

Preparatory assignment 2 – What is to be vulnerable?

‘Vulnerable groups in your country’. What is a vulnerable group for you? What is a vulnerable group in your country according to some governmental policies? What are the groups in need, but without any attention and support? Sum these up in 10-20 lines and add visualization as well (1-5 images, can be metaphors also)!

Post on Facebook till – 10th of April 2018
