*CALL TO WORSHIP AND COMMEMORATION OF THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED
Barbara Stevenson, Liturgist
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. [Psalm 115:16]
One generation shall praise your works to another, [Psalm 145:4]
and shall declare your mighty acts.
After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count,
from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages,
standing before the throne and before the Lamb.
They cried out in a loud voice, saying:
Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!
These beloved have gone on before us into eternal life. [Revelation 7:9-10]
We affirm even though we no longer see their faces, we know they are present.
As each name is read, please respond “Present.”
John Bjorklun Betty Jo Jester
Beryl Claar Leta McCune
Edward Eckwert Chersty Person
Myron Haines Esther Wilhelm
Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside
every weight and the sin that clings so closely.
Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us. [Hebrews 12:1]
*HYMN “For All the Saints” No. 526
CHILDREN’S TIME
ANTHEM “For All the Saints Who’ve Shown Your Love” arr. John Bell For all the saints who’ve shown your love, in how they live and where they move.
For mindful women, caring men, accept our gratitude again.
For all the saints who loved your name, whose faith increased the Savior’s fame.
Who sang your songs and shared your word, accept our gratitude, good Lord.
For all the saints who named your will, and showed the kingdom coming still.
Through selfless protest, prayer and praise, accept the gratitude we raise.
Bless all whose will or name or love reflects the grace of heaven above.
Though unacclaimed by earthly powers, your life through theirs has hallowed ours.
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
Gracious God, we do not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from your mouth.
Make us hungry for this heavenly food,
that it may nourish us today in the ways of eternal life;
through Jesus Christ, the bread of heaven. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
TITHES AND OFFERINGS
Offertory “Gift of Finest Wheat” arr. Charles Callahan
SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
Invitation to the Table
Great Prayer of Thanksgiving
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Eternal God, holy and mighty,
it is truly right and our greatest joy
to give you thanks and praise.
…
Therefore we praise you,
joining our voices with choirs of angels,
with prophets, apostles, and martyrs,
and with all the faithful of every time and place,
who forever sing to the glory of your name;
You are holy, O God of majesty,
and blessed is Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord.
. . .
Great is the mystery of faith:
Gracious God,
pour out your Holy Spirit upon us,
…
Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honor are yours, almighty God, now and forever.
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Breaking the Bread
Sharing the Bread and Cup
Prayer after Communion
Loving God,
you have given us a share in the one bread and the one cup
and made us one with Christ and with all the saints in light.
Help us to bring your salvation and joy to all the world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX
November 18-25, 2013 You often hear us use the phrase “the power of a simple gift.” That describes Operation
Christmas Child in a nutshell. Last year, we delivered over 9 million gift-filled shoe
boxes that brought smiles to the face of hurting children in places like earthquake-
devastated Haiti and war-scarred Sudan. Beyond the boxes themselves, these tangible
expressions of God’s love open doors for us to share the greatest gift He offers – the gift
of the Savior, Jesus Christ. We praise God for the harvest of faith that is already taking
place through our follow-up discipleship program, The Greatest Journey. Boys and girls
in dozens of countries are becoming faithful followers of Jesus and telling others the
Good News. As we prepare to collect shoe box gifts this Christmas, please keep in
prayer the children who will be receiving our gifts and learning about God’s Son.
Make up your own shoebox. Shoeboxes and brochures are available in the Narthex.
Items you can include in your shoebox are: School Supplies, Hygiene Items, Toys,
Hard Candy, T-shirts, Small Stuffed Animals, etc.
Other ways you can help:
1. Donate money to pay for shipping the boxes. A donation of $7.00 per box
would be greatly appreciated. Make checks payable to: Samaritan’s Purse.
2. Help during the week of the collections when boxes are received from
around the area (over 8500 boxes were collected and packed last year here
at this collection site).
3. Your prayers.
Need a shoebox? Shoeboxes and brochures of what to put in the
shoeboxes are available in the Narthex!!!
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH is the collection site
for the Operation Christmas Child project
with over 8500 boxes packed and shipped.
