Last Sunday, on the Feast of the "Blessed Sacrament" while we're contemplating and adoring Jesus for His presence in the Eucharist, we're taught by the second reading, the First Letter to the Corinthians (1 Cor 11: 23-26), how Jesus instituted the Eucharist. This is the oldest text and the first written proclamation of our Faith in the real presence of Jesus in Holy Communion. After the Pentecost, in 33 AD, the Apostles celebrated the Eucharist and "founded the Church on the Eucharist", preaching constantly about the Resurrected Lord. This oral proclamation has been finally written down, the first time by St. Paul in the above mentioned letter, in 56 AD, about 23 years after Jesus' Last Supper. A few years later, in 60's, the Evangelists gave the testimony, likewise the ancient "Didache" dated from the time of the Apostles. St. Justin in 120 AD elaborated how Christians celebrated Eucharist (Mass) and from that time we have more and more written catechesis, sermons, letters, and treatises about the faith in the Eucharist. This is the heritage of Christian-Catholics and our identity. We are the people of the Eucharist carrying Jesus Christ in "our earthly, broken vessels”.

En el domingo pasado, en la fiesta del "Santísimo Sacramento", mientras contemplamos y adoramos Jesús en Su presencia en la Eucaristía, aprendimos de la Lectura Segunda, de la Primera Carta a los Corintios (1Cor 11: 23-26), como Jesús constituyo la Eucaristía. Este es la primera proclamación de la Fe escrita sobre la presencia real de Jesús en la Santa Comunión. Después del Pentecostés, en el año 33 AD, los Apóstoles celebraban la Eucaristía y "fundaban la Iglesia en la Eucaristía", proclamando constantemente sobre el Señor Resucitado. Esta proclamación oral ha sido escrita a la primera vez por San Pablo en esta carta, la mencionada arriba, en el año 56 AD; los 23 años después de la Ultima Cena de Jesús. Pocos años después, en los 60 AD, los evangelistas dieron su testimonio y también "Didache" que es del tiempo de los Apóstoles. San Justino en los 120 AD explicaba como los cristianos celebraban la Eucaristía (la Santa Misa) y de este tiempo tenemos más y más escritos catequesis, sermones, cartas, tratados sobre la Fe en la Eucaristía. Este es la herencia de los cristianos-católicos y nuestra identidad. Somos los hombres de la Eucaristía llevando Jesús en "nuestras vasijas quebrantadas terrenales.

YES Summer is upon us and CFF has come to a close, so we may now begin the process of forming our new youth group. We will be scheduling a meeting, most likely in July, since many families are out on vacation. Our garden is nearly ready for planning and planting. We hope to have an activity for the kids mid-summer. Please watch the bulletin for details. St. Anthony of Padua The Gospel call to leave everything and follow Christ was the rule of Anthony’s life. Over and over again God called him to something new in His plan. Every time An-thony responded with renewed zeal and self-sacrificing to serve his Lord Jesus more completely. His journey as the servant of God began as a very young man when he decided to join the Augustinians in Lisbon, giving up a future of wealth and power to be a servant of God. Later, when the bodies of the first Franciscan martyrs went through the Portuguese city where he was stationed, he was again filled with an intense longing to be one of those closest to Jesus himself: those who die for the Good News. So Anthony entered the Franciscan Order and set out to preach to the Moors. But an illness pre-vented him from achieving that goal. He went to Italy and was stationed in a small hermitage where he spent most of his time praying, reading the Scriptures and do-ing menial tasks. There he washed pots and pans without complaint. The call of God came again at an ordination where no one was prepared to speak. The humble and obedient Anthony hesitantly accepted the task. The years of searching for Jesus in prayer, of reading sacred Scrip-ture and of serving him in poverty, chastity and obedi-ence had prepared Anthony to allow the Spirit to use his talents. Anthony’s sermon was astounding to those who expected an unprepared speech and knew not the Spirit’s power to give people words. Recognized as a great man of prayer and a great Scripture and theology scholar, An-thony became the first friar to teach theology to the other friars. Soon he was called from that post to preach to the Albigensians in France, using his profound knowledge of Scripture and theology to convert and reassure those who had been misled by their denial of Christ's divinity and of the sacraments. After he led the friars in northern Italy for three years, he made his headquarters in the city of Padua. He resumed his preaching and began writing ser-mon notes to help other preachers. St. Anthony died at Arcella, near Padua, Italy, on June 13, 1231 when he was just thirty-six. After he died, people often prayed to St. Anthony in times of physical as well as spiritual needs and many miracles have taken place through the interces-sion of St. Anthony. That is why he is called the "wonder-worker." The statue of St. Anthony shows him with Baby Jesus because Baby Jesus appeared to him. Other pictures show him holding a Bible. This is because he knew, loved and preached the Word of God so well. In fact, St. Anthony was so well educated especially in Sacred Scripture that Pope Pius XII proclaimed him the "Evangelical Doctor," or Doctor of Sacred Scripture.

San Antonio de Padua El llamado del Evangelio para dejar todo y seguir a Cristo era la regla de la vida de Antonio. Una y otra vez Dios le llamaba a algo nuevo en Su plan y cada vez que Antonio respondió con renovacion y abnegación para servir a su Señor Jesús más completamente. Su viaje como el siervo de Dios comenzó como un hombre muy joven cuando decidió unirse a los agustinos en Lisboa, renunciar de riqueza y el poder para ser un siervo de Dios. Los años de búsqueda de Jesús en la oración, en la lectura de la Sagrada Escritura y en servirle en la pobreza, la castidad y la obediencia habían preparado Antonio para que el Espíritu Santo use sus talentos. El sermón de Antonio fue asombroso para los que no esperaron un discurso preparado y que no conocieron el poder del Espíritu que dio las palabras a la gente. Reconocido como un gran hombre de oración y como un gran maestro de la Escritura y de la teología, Antonio se convirtió en el primer fraile para enseñar teología a los otros hermanos. Pronto fue llamado a ese puesto a predicar a los herejes albigenses en Francia, con su profundo conocimiento de la Escritura y de la teología para convertir a los que habían sido engañados por la herejia que nega la divinidad de Cristo y los sacramentos. Después de llevó a los hermanos en el norte de Italia durante tres años, hizo su cuartel general en la ciudad de Padua. Continuaba predicar y comenzaba a escribir notas de los sermónes para ayudar a otros misioneros. San Antonio murió en Arcella, cerca de Padua, Italia, el 13 de junio 1231 cuando tenía sólo treinta y seis anos. Después de su muerte, la gente solia rezar a San Antonio en tiempos de necesidades físicas y espirituales y muchos milagros ocurrian por intercesión de San Antonio. Por eso se le llama el "hacedor de milagros". La estatua de San Antonio con el Niño Jesús se expone porque el Niño Jesús se le apareció. Otras imágenes muestran San Antonio que to-ma la Biblia porque el conocía, amaba y predicó la Palabra de Dios tan bien. De hecho, San Antonio fue tan bien educado especialmente en la Sagrada Escritura que el Papa Pío XII lo proclamó el
