popping up a l l over The pop up shop concept is a worldwide phenomenon surfacing around every corner.

And why? Because it works! According to US site www.storefront.com pop up shops

work because one can

Connect with customers: The pop-up retail format allows you to personally get to

know your customers and build stronger relationships.

Sell more: About 95% of all purchases are still completed offline. This is your

opportunity to take advantage of the retail channel.

Build awareness: Consumers and the media love the excitement generated by

pop-up shops. Build brand awareness by going offline.

It’s cheaper: Launching a pop-up shop is 80% cheaper than a traditional retail

store.

Test new markets: Easily enter a new market and launch new products

Whether it’s for one day or 3 months – the idea that you may not be there tomorrow

encourages customers to make the decision to buy instead of waiting.

a b o u t u sIn a world of fast food, quick make overs and traffic jams, the concept of

Pop Up shops is trending. It is an effective way to promote products and

reach a variety of customers from different markets without the risk of

high over heads and a high possibility of failure.

We have taken this concept and made a shopping experience that is

hard to forget.

By providing a platform for small (new or existing) businesses to showcase

their products we achieve our objectives…

“To build and expand the brands of local businesses

To offer a world of endless opportunities to all”

b e h i n d t h e s c e n e sMother of two, Candice Smith (28), had a vision after encountering

many difficulties in opening a shop. Using passion, creativity and the

skills of other small business owners she produced what is now a

haven for shoppers and entrepreneurs alike.

As more little businesses surface upon discovering The Pop Shoppe,

Candice feels a real sense of achievement as she provides

opportunities where before there were none.

Opportunities to explore a world of job and art creation

Opportunities to find the perfect gift

Opportunities to uplift others

Candice is very focused on giving back and welcomes businesses to

utilise the gorgeous space in the shop to launch events and create

awareness as well as raise funds for charity.

Of course no woman can achieve much if she works in solitude. Having

a team of superwomen behind her who share in her vision of a place

where dreams come true makes the journey possible.

“I dreamt of a place where

wishes came true,

dreams were reality…A place where I

truly belonged”CANDICE SMITH

W h e r e w e c a m e f r o mOpening our doors in May 2013 in a large double volume

premises, we saw over 100 small businesses pop up on our shop floor during our two year occupation. After getting to know our specific market we seized an opportunity to create a more intimate shopping experience where shoppers can feel more comfortable by moving to our current home- The Love Shack. A historical building, the new premises offers a much more intimate and quaint shopping experience.

W h e r e w e a r e g o i n g

As the concept makes waves overseas, we are in the process of making waves in our own country. Our vision is to reach all sides of the country and to offer a place where smaller entrepreneurs can get the opportunity to spread their wings and fly.

“We want to become a brand known for quality, inspiration and opportunity”

why?BRAND AWARENESS

Many business owners are so focused on the daily operations and administration of a business that the marketing is often neglected. For a business to survive – and to flourish – we have to be in our customers faces – all the time. Social media is a wonderful form of advertising and it is up to us to make use of it. Because we are doing it already – let us help you to get your business virtually active! Get in touch with your customers and keep them updated!

VISIBILITY & PRESENCEPeople will always prefer to see an actual product before purchasing so by giving your customers a taste of what it is you do – you will create brand awareness. You can showcase your latest stock released, or end of range sale while directing them to view your entire range in your own shop or online.

STANDING TOGETHERWith so many adverts and marketing campaigns out there – as a small or new business it is hard to stand out. Why not join our campaign and we can share the exposure. By sharing costs we can all enjoy much greater advertising opportunities at a lower cost!

T h e i m p o r t a n c e o f b r a n d a w a r e n e s s

For any business to be successful in today’s cut throat industry, we are all required to have a visible presence on all social media networks. Essentially it is all about putting your brand out there for people to see.

In the retail industry this is even more essential as we compete with giants for the spotlight in a struggle to convince customers to spend their hard earned money with us – instead of with the chainstore down the road.

By being a brand that is completely unique by offering the work of local entrepreneurs, and not the cheap imports from across the ocean – we are doing our bit in supporting local talent. While we may never convert many – there is a fast growing portion of the market who are searching and yearning for a shopping experience apart from what is on offer.

As a brand we want to get out there to say “Look what we have for you!” by marketing, marketing and more marketing.

When you sign up as an exhibitor, you are committing to a

3 month contract. This is an ideal time frame to test the

market and optimise your brand exposure. Contract

renewal for another 3 months is dependant on your

stand’s turnover.

For those with commitment issues, we offer

the option for short term pop up shops. You

can pop up in our café for 1 to 5 days at R250

per day.

We can provide the staff for your pop up shop at an

additional R200 per day. The commission of 10% is

applicable.

When things seem too good to be true – that’s when its time to look at the fine print. Yes – there are additional costs which contribute towards the efficient operation of the centre.

Sales which are generated from your stand are subject to the following commissions:

SALES COMMISSION: this is to pay for all the little things that usually drag a small business down (cleaning products, electricity, wages, administrators etc). The rate is a flat 10% of total sales which is deducted at month end.

CREDIT CARD MERCHANT COMMISSION: for each credit card transaction the customers make the bank deducts a percentage which is in turn deducted off your sales. This rate is currently 2.5% and is subject to change without notice. This, as well as a rental fee of R30, will be deducted from sales at month end.

All these commissions are in place to make the whole set up possible and no commissions will be negotiable.
