Where to find things in the Media Center

Magazines

Current Magazines are kept on wall in the red folders.

Back issues kept in storage (see staff if needed)

Not available for checkout Research magazines in

Media Center Copies of articles can be

made for $.05 a copy.

Reference

Located on back wall. Encyclopedias located on

bookshelves in the middle of Reference area

Reference may not be checked out (Permission for overnight

checkout may be granted with teacher approval) See Staff

Copies of articles can be made for $.05 a page.

Tables are for Students doing research.

Put materials back where you got them before leaving the Media Center.

If you are unsure of where the item came from , put it on one of the black carts.

We encourage students to check out books for classroom and pleasure reading

Two books per student for two weeks

Fines are $.05 a day (not counting holidays and weekends)

Acceptable Use PolicyElectronic Communications System The Internet Safety Policy and school system measures are

designed to address safety and security when using direct electronic communication. Electronic resources are defined as the following: Internet, World Wide

Web (WWW), online services, networked information, licensed software, telecommunication resources, and all hardware on which it is being accessed. All users are expected to abide by the accepted electronic resources rules to include (but not limited to) the following:

1. Follow school system regulations which concern use of electronic resources (i.e., will not damage computers, will respect the privacy of other users' files, will follow the directions of staff, will not be wasteful of resources).

2. Comply with network policies (i.e., student and staff logins).

3. Use the Internet for appropriate educational purposes.

4. Use electronic resources only with permission of designated school system staff.

5. Respect and uphold the copyright laws (i.e., giving credit to the rightful author and not distributing protected material or software).

6.Immediately report any security problems or violations of these conditions to appropriate school system staff.

7.Do not use language that is obscene, insulting, purposely inaccurate or offensive to others.

8.Do not access inappropriate materials or show others how to access them.

9.Do not disseminate personal information regarding minors or staff members.

10.Do not transmit computer viruses or any other malicious programs.

11..Do not intentionally damage or unlawfully disrupt Internet/WWW services or hardware/software that provides the delivery of electronic resources.

Failure to abide by this Board policy and administrative procedures governing use of the school system's electronic resources may result in the suspension and/or revocation of system access. Additionally, student violations may result in discipline up to and including long-term suspension, expulsion and/or appropriate legal action.

The Henry County School System has taken precautions, which are limited, to restrict access to controversial materials, however, on a global network it is impossible to control all. Materials and a user may accidentally or purposely discover controversial information. Use of any information obtained via electronic resources is at the risk of the user.

The Henry County School System makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or implied, for the service it is providing. The Henry County School System will not be responsible for any damages the user may suffer, including loss of data or cost incurred from a commercial service. The system will not be responsible for the accuracy or quality of information obtained through any telecommunication or electronic resource.
