Diocese Responds to “McCarrick Report”
Like Catholic dioceses across the nation and even around the world, the Diocese of Metuchen eagerly awaited the release of the Holy See’s findings of its investigation into disgraced former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, found-ing bishop of the diocese. The report was published by the Holy See on November 10. The Diocese of Metuchen’s response to the report, including: a letter from Bishop Checchio; the findings of the investigation into the Diocese of Metuchen’s files regarding McCarrick; and other information about the significant steps taken to ensure the protection of minors and to ensure the crimes and sins of the past cannot be repeated, can be found here: diometuchen.org/healing.
PRAYER FOR HEALING VICTIMS OF ABUSE
God of endless love,
ever caring, ever strong, always present, always just:
You gave your only Son to save us by the blood of his cross.
Gentle Jesus, shepherd of peace,
join to your own suffering the pain of all who have been hurt
in body, mind, and spirit by those who betrayed the trust placed in them.
Hear the cries of our brothers and sisters
who have been gravely harmed, and the cries of those who love them. Soothe their restless hearts with hope, steady their shaken spirits with faith.
Grant them justice for their cause, enlightened by your truth.
Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts,
heal your people’s wounds and transform brokenness into wholeness.
Grant us the courage and wisdom, humility and grace, to act with justice.
Breathe wisdom into our prayers and labors. Grant that all harmed by abuse may find peace in justice.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen

Dear Friends,
I am so pleased to announce that as a result of your tremendous generosity, we
collected a grand total of $69,555.00 for our Parish Appeal. These donations will
greatly assist us in meeting our financial obligations and challenges due to
COVID and the downturn in collections.
Thank you to everyone who donated, and thank you for your prayers for our
Church, our parish, and for me. I am so grateful for your ongoing support and the
countless ways you share your God-given gifts. Your generosity enables us to
continue to meet our financial obligations as we work together in carrying out the
mission of the Church to bring the Gospel to all. Nothing we do at Our Lady of
the Mount would be possible without your support.
Please know how thankful I am for you, my parish family.
You are in my prayers always, and please remember me in yours.
Peace and all good,
Fr. Sean
