Different Vision
WePhoto Book no.4 - 2015 - Spain & Portugal - vol 3
Cover by:Gonzalo Parás Neira ©
Different VisionSpain & PortugalIn this section of our serie, we have a lot of authors, and the majority are from Spain & Portugal. So, we start just here, and we have a really GREAT numbers of Photographers. This is Volume three of three. The idea for this series was born looking at the myriad of wonderful images in Wephoto Group pages. Authors from all over the world, each with their own culture, traditions, a world view that, although globalization, has different colors regarding different areas So part of this series has the goal to explore every world’s Macro region, and offer a proof, a featuring, trying to figure out if and how traditions and culture can give a “Different Vision”.

This is our 4th edition from that series. The first, dedicated Asian Authors is available for download via Apple iBooks Store, Amazon Kindle Store and Lulu.com, as separately reported, the second (three volumes) are available for download at the same platforms (see at the end of the book) I would like to thank all the authors for their cooperation, patience and enthusiasm. Almost daily we did talk about the achievement of this book, how to select photos and so on, different countries, different cultures, different languages, and yet we found ourselves in the WePhoto’s chat, talking as old friends in one language, feeling as if we were sitting at a table in a pub to have a drink together. This is the most beautiful side, perhaps, of this work. Demonstrate that we are all the same, it doesn’t matter where we were born, we share the same passions, the same fears, the same hopes.

A special thanks to my friend and admin Dick Visser, Art Director, for the supervision of the graphics, layout and the realization of the book, and with whom we are fighting together to achieve a single version to be offered to various platforms. Thanks to Germana,Anastasia, Teddy & Mia, who help us to contact and coordinate authors to organize and deliver their files. A difficult work, believe me! I push everyone to watch, read, spread to friends, acquaintances, sharing on Facebook and wherever else this book.

Photography is an adventure with little more than two years. This last year I realized that my eyes choose what i’m going to shoot - and i follow them with no prior idea. I am attracted by the light, its nuances, shadows, its effects on the things i find in my daily routes. And also by geometries, buildings or walls, everything I don’t have technique and i shoot with a compact camera - a friend who follows me every day, everywhere Photography made me find my artistic expression and I am delighted It was difficult to choose ten images among all my favorite pictures. Now, that the choice was made, i struggle with the idea if i should have chosen others. But i believe these ten represents me well. I hope you enjoy them

Cascais, Portugal
I was born in Viana do Castelo, a coastal town in the north of Portugal. I have been living in Cascais, close to Lisbon, since 1975. I am an amateur photographer and I started to take pictures on a regular basis in the mid eighties. At that point in time, my sources of inspiration were north American photographers such as Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and Alfred Stieglitz. I feel life as a sort of amazing mystery that one keeps discovering day by day, step by step, through all sorts of experiences. In a sense, photography helps me out to explore and enjoy that mystery. It is also a means that helps me to say how much I love life and how much I love living even within the context of such a complex world…

The best images are the ones captured by my eyes and stored in my mind. Maybe that´s why I choose photography to recreate those images... I’m self taught. I have also had the great opportunity to have lived through the switch between analog and digital photography. I remember the proud moments when the image revealed itself like magic on that paper, from nothing; from the whiter shades to the positive black and white image. Like I said, the best images are in my head and I can therefore not show you them. Still, here are ten of my photos that are pretty close to doing them justice.

Amateur, the passion for photography comes from an early age, and all my few knowledges are empirical. Not neglecting the color, I especially like the B&W. With no means to elaborate scenes and being creative, I just photograph what I see. “A camera always in the pocket” is my motto.

A mum of 5, I’m from, Dublin, Ireland. I moved to Spain in 2006, where I now live amongst the orange groves with my husband, youngest daughter, five dogs and a cat. The nearest city, Valencia is about 50km away. I first took up photography in 2009, taking pictures of the local flora and fauna to send back home, eventually I took an interest in Street Photography and have been shooting on the streets in Valencia since 2011, it’s a very addictive thing, Street photography and I’m sure in common with most Photographers on the streets, I find it very frustrating, every time I go out to shoot I anticipate getting that ‘Shot’, that’s what keeps me shooting.

Madrid, Spain
