Wesley’s Journal July 2020 Wesley United Methodist Church A Church for ALL God’s People 85 Stanford Ave, Pueblo Co, 81005 (719) 561-8746 [email protected] Rev. Lou Ward (719) 369-0990 To live by Faith to be known by Love and be a Voice of Hope. “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 I can’t even begin to tell you how excited my family and I are to be back in Pueblo and joining the Wesley UMC family! Moving, Covid-19, and other issues have made this a transition unlike any other but I continue to be filled with the same excitement and anticipation as when I first met the church leaders during my introduction so many months ago! Church will look different for a little while yet. We will be meeting outside and for some that just seems absolutely crazy and unreal. I am reminded of the countless times Jesus performed miracles, healings, teachings, and gave sermons outside. I think that we will just temporarily be heading back to our roots. As I write this, just a day after getting all our stuff moved into the parsonage, I am staring at boxes and totes all around us. As exhausting as it was to move our house and all our belongings, now the real challenging part comes. We have to unpack and start finding all the essentials. Part of the challenge is that we simply want to be done and back to normal but we aren’t quite there yet. I think the same can be said for our church. We’ve come through a lot with being shut down for the last several months and simply just want to return to normal, but we aren’t quite there yet. I am so thankful for our leadership team who have worked so diligently with the health department and our cabinet to get the necessary approvals in order to get us one step closer to “normal”. I am excited to begin meeting all of you over the come weeks. I am deeply honored to have been appointed your new pastor and I am so excited to love you, challenge you, and continue to lead you deeper into relationship with Jesus Christ. My heart races as I think of all the amazing ministry that we are going to do together here in Pueblo and across the globe! Blessings, Rev. Lou Ward Cooperative Care Center is in need of: canned meat (tuna, chicken, etc.) Soup Kitchen beans, rice, pasta, flour, cooking oil
