Expectations of Students• All course content will be accessed via our Learning Management System, Canvas.

• All of our teachers will hold daily Zoom meetings with students to ensure they have a face to face time to interact with their teachers.

• These Zoom meetings will be recorded so that if a student misses the assigned time they can still receive the same information from their teacher.

• Parents will be provided with information so that they can be an observer in their child’s Canvas courses.

Tips for Successful Remote Learning

• Understand Your Workload – Each course will require approximately 60 minutes per day.

• Connect with Your Teacher Early and Often – Let them know when you are struggling so that you don’t get too far behind without getting some help. Online students MUST advocate for themselves.

• Log in Everyday – Check the status of your classes, make sure you have met all due dates, and check your school email daily for important announcements.

• Do the Work - Don’t just submit assignments. That’s not learning. Do the readings, watch the videos, listen to the audio. It’s not just about a grade - it’s about learning the material to be prepared for future courses.

Tips for Successful Remote Learning

• Follow Our Schedule – Have a specific time each day to work in your courses. You will have something to do every single school day in most of your classes. Be aware of your assignment due dates…don’t get behind.

• Stay Organized - Keep track of your coursework! You should save copies of your work on your computer or on a flash drive. Use your ABSS Google Calendar to keep up with due dates.

• Have a Consistent Workspace - You need an organized, clean workspace to do your school work. Your workspace should be free from distractions.

Virtual Academy• Since the decision has been made that all ABSS students will begin the school year in a remote environment, the Virtual Academy is currently on hold.

• When we announce that we are able to move to Plan B, we will ask parents to recommit to the virtual academy so that we can update numbers.

• If a parent selects to keep their child in the virtual academy then they will continue to receive instruction in a similar manner as the current remote instruction. Their teachers will remain WAHS teachers. As we move forward, more information will be shared.

• Will my student be able to remain in their CTEC classes? Yes…CTEC will have virtual options as well.

• What will the daily schedule look like for a virtual student? The daily schedule will look very similar to the current remote learning schedule.

• How will students be graded/assessed? We will follow BOE Policy 3400 regarding grading and assessment.
